On April 22, JAC Yttrium and Weilan New Energy officially signed a solid-state battery strategic cooperation agreement in Hefei, and the two sides will cooperate in the development of 4695 large cylindrical semi-solid-state batteries, marking the most critical step for JAC Yttrium to take the research and production of solid-state batteries, and once again lead the second half of the new energy vehicle era. Xia Shunli, chairman and general manager of Yttrium Technology, and Yu Huigen, chairman and general manager of Weilan New Energy, signed the contract on behalf of both parties.

As a new energy vehicle brand with 18 years of technology research and development and industrial accumulation, JAC Yttrium has been focusing on the research and application of various power batteries for many years. For the sake of safety priority, JAC Yttrium has developed industry-leading zero thermal diffusion cellular battery technology in order to adhere to the cylindrical cell route, and is the first automobile brand in China to research and apply 18650, 21700 and 4695 cylindrical cells. In terms of cutting-edge technology in the field of battery applications, JAC Yttrium is also at the forefront of the industry.

On January 5 this year, JAC Yttrium officially delivered the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery model to users, marking the most important step in the industrialization of sodium-ion batteries and a milestone. For the "solid-state battery" that has been hotly discussed in the industry recently, JAC Yttrium has started the production and research of related technologies as early as 2021. Different from other automobile brands, JAC Yttrium and Weilan New Energy will jointly develop semi-solid cells based on 4695 large cylindrical shape, which is the first automobile brand in the industry to explicitly apply large cylindrical semi-solid batteries.

It is reported that the two sides will be based on JAC Yttrium for the world's second-generation pure electric platform - DI platform, to jointly develop 4695 large cylindrical semi-solid battery cell application model, the model will use in-situ solid-state technology, cell capacity of 34Ah, energy density up to 300Wh/kg, to achieve the vehicle 600km-1000km endurance level, and plans to achieve mass production in 2025.

The other party of this strategic cooperation, Weilan New Energy, is a battery company focusing on the R&D and production of semi-solid-state lithium-ion batteries in China, with a number of core patents for solid-state batteries, focusing on low-cost, long-life, high-safety, high-energy-density semi-solid-state lithium-ion battery products, and is the only solid-state battery industrialization platform of the Institute of Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The strategic cooperation between the two parties is of great significance to promote the mass production and installation of 46 large cylindrical semi-solid battery cells. This is also another important move for JAC yttrium in the field of battery applications after the mass delivery of the world's first sodium-ion battery production vehicle. In the future, JAC Yttrium will continue to pay attention to various cutting-edge application research in the field of power batteries, and create more intelligent, safe and pleasant electric vehicles for users.
