Since the beginning of this year, the passenger flow of the Yangtze River Delta Railway has increased significantly. In the first quarter of the past year, the number of passengers sent by Shanghai Bureau Group increased by more than 20% year-on-year. This year's "May Day" holiday is the second longer holiday after the Spring Festival, and the suitable temperature and continuous holidays have further stimulated the enthusiasm of people for inter-provincial medium and long-distance travel, and the demand for travel within 1,500 kilometers has been further released. The passenger flow component will be mainly tourism and family visits, showing the characteristics of wide range of travel, long peak hours, and large average daily passenger flow.
From the perspective of passenger flow distribution, it is expected to show the travel pattern of departing from the location two days before the holiday (April 29 to 30) and returning on the last day (May 6), among which the peak passenger flow is predicted to appear on May 1, when passengers are sent or the single-day passenger departure record set by the Super Yangtze River Delta Railway during the Qingming Festival (April 4) this year (3.735 million passengers).
From the perspective of passenger flow, the flow of tourists to Beijing, Guangzhou, Fuzhou, Xiamen, Changsha, Qingdao and other places in the Yangtze River Delta is booming; Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Hefei and other centers of the Yangtze River Delta and other tourist cities and Yangzhou, Lianyungang, Yancheng, Huangshan and other tourist cities have frequent flow of people, and other cities to Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Hehe, Ningbo, Wu and other places have seen a significant increase in passenger flow. Popular lines mainly include Beijing-Shanghai, Beijing-Hong Kong, Hangzhou-Shenzhen, Shanghai-Kunming, Shanghai-Nanjing, Shanghai-Hangzhou, Nanjing-Hangzhou, Hefu, Ning'an, Shanghai-Sutong, Lianzhen, Xulian and other direct and in-tube high-speed rail lines.

In view of the actual increase in passenger flow during the "May Day" holiday, the Yangtze River Delta railway department coordinated the capacity arrangement, adopted the basic operation map plan, the "May Day" passenger plan, and the emergency plan to arrange the capacity in three batches, and planned to increase the number of passenger trains by 192.5 pairs on the basis of the implementation of the peak line. Among them, 133 pairs of night EMU trains were arranged.
The "May Day" passenger plan includes the opening of 50 pairs of through passenger trains and the opening of 142.5 pairs of passenger trains in the tube. The direction of the additional through passenger trains is mainly for the Yangtze River Delta to and from Central China, South China, Central Plains, Northwest China, North China and other regions, including Shanghai to Nanchang, Zhengzhou, Xi'an, Wuhan, Luoyang, Changsha, Xuchang, Hankou, Jiujiang, Foshan, Guangzhou, Zhuhai, etc., Hangzhou to Zhengzhou, Nanchang, Ganzhou, Hankou, etc., Nanjing to Changsha, Wuhan and other cities.
The main directions of the additional passenger trains in the tube are the locations of popular tourist cities in the Yangtze River Delta region, including Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Hefei, Suzhou, Xuzhou, Yangzhou, Lianyungang, Yancheng, Ningbo, Wenzhou, Lishui, Quzhou, Huangshan, Xuancheng, Wuhu, Fuyang, etc.
In addition, the railway department will take measures to increase the capacity and seats by organizing the reconnection of EMU trains and adding vehicles to ordinary speed trains.
