The reporter learned from the Shanghai First People's Hospital (South) that before October 2020, the hospital parking lot could accommodate 2,100 vehicles at the same time, and the number of vehicles entering and exiting in a single day reached 6,000. With the advancement of the second phase expansion project of Shanghai First People's Hospital (South), one of the major livelihood projects of the "Five New Cities", the original parking spaces were temporarily occupied due to construction, and now there are only more than 1,100 parking spaces left, which exacerbates the parking contradiction.

New Songjiang Road queuing passage

In order to meet the parking needs of the staff of the hospital, the hospital specially rented a space on Chenhua Road for parking staff vehicles and arranged shuttle buses to pick up and drop off regularly. The hospital has also added parking spaces for non-motorized vehicles to encourage employees to travel green. As a result of these measures, the time required to drive patients to the hospital during peak hours can be reduced to 10 to 15 minutes.
