After the release of Snapdragon X Elite, Apple and Intel have launched new processor platforms, so how does Snapdragon X Elite perform compared to these new platforms? In response to this problem, Nitin Kumar, vice president of product management at Qualcomm Technologies, also shared new data at the recent Qualcomm communication meeting.
According to Nitin Kumar, the Snapdragon X Elite still outperforms Apple's M3 processor in terms of multi-threaded CPU performance, with the Snapdragon X Elite outperforming the M3 in the Geekbench multi-threaded test, which is 28% higher than the M3.
Compared to the Core Ultra 7 155H, the Snapdragon X Elite consumes 65% less power than the competition when reaching the same peak performance in the Geekbench 6 single-threaded test, which is only 1/3 of the Core Ultra 7 155H. In addition, at the same power consumption, the Snapdragon X Elite's CPU performance is 54% higher than that of the competition.
As a result, the Snapdragon X Elite performs better at the same power consumption, and the Snapdragon X Elite consumes less power at the same peak performance.
In multi-threaded testing, the Geekbench v6 multi-threaded test showed that the Snapdragon X Elite consumes 60% less power at the same peak performance than the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H, and the Snapdragon X Elite outperforms the competition by 52% at the same power consumption.
The Snapdragon X Elite not only holds the lead against the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H, but also against the higher-end Intel Core Ultra 9 185H. In single-threaded testing, power consumption is 65% lower for the same peak performance, and up to 51% better performance than the competition at the same power consumption.
In the multi-threaded test, the results are also consistent with the single-threaded test. Against Intel's higher-end Core Ultra 9 185H, the Snapdragon X Elite consumes 58% less power at the same peak performance and 41% higher performance at the same power consumption.
In terms of GPUs, the Snapdragon X Elite consumes half the power of the competition at the same peak performance compared to the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H, leading by 36% at the same power consumption.
The Snapdragon X Elite's advantages in terms of performance and power consumption also allow the device to have a longer battery life, and Qualcomm's corresponding tests for some mainstream applications show that the Snapdragon X Elite's battery life is at least 40% longer than the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H in these different use cases.
Another important metric to measure the user experience is the responsiveness of the platform, and when launching an application on a terminal, the latency and time it takes to open it for the first time is definitely as short as possible. In Qualcomm's tests, the Snapdragon X Elite was able to respond and open apps more quickly, at least 7% faster than the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H, and at most close to 70% faster.
On the PC platform, we can see that Intel provides a variety of different products, so Qualcomm is also improving the layout in the PC market, after the Snapdragon X Elite, launched a new product Snapdragon X Plus, from the positioning point of view, it is lower than the Snapdragon X Elite, but it still continues its advantages of high performance and low power consumption.
Like the Snapdragon X Elite, the Snapdragon X Plus is built on a 4nm process, with its Qualcomm Oryon CPU featuring 10 custom high-performance cores clocked at up to 3.4GHz and a total cache of 42MB.
When compared to Apple's M3 processor, the Snapdragon X Elite's CPU performance is 28% ahead. The CPU performance of the Snapdragon X Plus is also 10% ahead of the M3.
The Snapdragon X Plus outperformed the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H in Geekbench multithreaded testing, using 54% less power than the competition at the same peak performance.
In the Cinebench 2024 multithreaded test, the Snapdragon X Plus delivered 28% better CPU performance than the competition at the same power consumption compared to the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H, and 39% lower power consumption than the competition when the PC reached the same peak performance. Compared to the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H, the Snapdragon X Plus also has an advantage.
In WildLife Extreme testing, the Snapdragon X Plus outperformed the competition by up to 36% in GPU performance at the same power consumption compared to the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H, and consumed only half the power of the competition when the PC reached the same peak performance.
In addition to the performance advantages of the CPU and GPU, the Snapdragon X Plus is equipped with the same NPU as the Snapdragon X Elite, which can achieve 45TOPS of computing power, so it will have excellent performance in AI.
In terms of other experiences, the Snapdragon X Plus is capable of supporting an external triple Ultra HD 4K 60Hz display and supports HDR10. The network supports Wi-Fi 7, high-frequency concurrent multi-connection, and 5G connectivity that supports sub-6GHz and mmWave speeds of up to 10GB/s.
In terms of imaging, the Snapdragon X Plus also supports leading imaging features, including support for 18-bit dual ISP and MIPI cameras, providing advanced image and video features for a high-end user experience. The Snapdragon X Plus supports leading Snapdragon Sound features, including Bluetooth 5.4 audio transmission and more.
These experience advantages will also become a major advantage of Qualcomm in the layout of the PC market, so that users' PCs can be online in real time like mobile phones, convenient and efficient.
