On April 19, the 22nd China International Model Expo opened at the Beijing Exhibition Center, which is the largest comprehensive model expo in Asia, and nearly two-thirds of the exhibited works are military models. As a member of the integrated media department of the military program center of the main station, I received a task notice to conduct a mobile live broadcast at the expo site.
It was only 2 days from the time I received the assignment to the official live broadcast, and this was the first live broadcast in my career.
Unexpectedly, the day before the live broadcast, the exhibitors had not yet completed the exhibition arrangement, which meant that the situation at the live broadcast site was full of unknowns and everything was full of challenges.
There are always more solutions than difficulties. At 7 o'clock in the evening of the 18th, I recognized the road at the construction site again and again, and asked the organizer one point at a time, and I slowly had a bottom in my heart. In the process, I was particularly impressed by one work, the author's name is Chen Shu.
Chen Shu is quite famous in the military fan circle, with a pair of skillful hands, "God restores" many famous military scenes. In this exhibition, he brought a scene model "Great Rivers and Mountains, Not an Inch of Land", which he spent a whole year making 152 character models by hand, reproducing the scene of the heroic battle in the Karakoram.
The work had been kept secret before, and this is the first time it has been exhibited.
As I write this, I can recall the shock I was when I first saw this work. In order to ensure the effectiveness of the live broadcast, we only had a brief chat in the early stage of communication. But it was just a few minutes of conversation that made both of us teary-eyed.
At 9 o'clock in the evening before the live broadcast, the stepping point ended. On the way home, I was speechless all the way, thinking about the work in my heart, silently cheering myself on.
The next day, the live broadcast started as scheduled. Chen Shu was the fourth guest I interviewed in the live broadcast, and the first question we talked about was the original intention of the work.
He said that a year ago he saw a photograph of a PLA soldier standing quietly in front of the tomb of martyr Chen Hongjun in a standard military posture. When the soldier saw the photographer, he turned around and said with moist eyes, "Thank you for coming to see Camp Commander Chen", and it was this scene that touched him.
From then on, he wanted to use a work to let everyone understand the battle, how hard and difficult it was for our soldiers, and how hard and difficult it was for them to defend the motherland and the people.
The truth is always connected, and my eyes are already a little moist when I hear this, but I try to control my emotions in order for the live broadcast to go smoothly.
He also told me that his favorite and most touching part of the whole work was the martyr Chen Xiangrong. At that time, Chen Xiangrong saw that the battalion commander and company commander were besieged, and rushed up to block the battalion commander of Chen Hongjun without hesitation, and the last words he left were "I want to save my battalion commander and company commander." Therefore, Chen Shu freezes that moment in his work.
"He was only 19 years old at the time......" This is what Chen Shu repeated to me the most in the interview, as he spoke, he choked up, and tears came out of my eyes......
Yes, he is only 19 years old, and at an age when he should have been sheltered, he bravely stood in front of his comrades.
When Chen Xiangrong's mother learned the news of her child's sacrifice, she said: "I don't have any requirements, I just want to know, is Rong'er brave when she fights?" His company commander replied: "Xiangrong bravely crowns the three armies!"
In the work, Chen Xiangrong's photo is next to his favorite orange and his helmet, on which the phrase "clear love, only for China" is particularly eye-catching, which is the oath written by Chen Xiangrong, who was not yet 19 years old before his sacrifice.
At that time, Chen Xiangrong's squad leader asked him: "You are a 'post-00' recruit, and your tone is so 'big'." Chen Xiangrong replied: "Class leader, it has nothing to do with age, that's what I think, and I will do the same." ”
Chen Xiangrong fulfilled his oath with his life!
Because of "experience", I "empathize", and I used to be a soldier.
2018 was the most special year of my life. That year, I submitted the conscription application form, and resolutely wrote four words on the reason for joining the army - "defend the motherland". In this way, I became a member of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and my youth began to connect with my home and country.
Many people ask me, "Is it hard to be a soldier?" and "Is it worth it?" and my answer remains the same – bitter, but worth it. Because it was there that I really learned responsibility and faith.
I still remember when I first enlisted in the army, every time I pulled the emergency assembly, I was asked to put a blank piece of paper and a pen in the satchel I carried with me, I didn't understand at the time, I was going to the battlefield, is the paper and pen still useful?
Later, the squad leader told me that it was used to write a suicide note......
Once, the army organized a "Three Letters and One Letter" activity: If you went to the battlefield tomorrow, what would you say?
"Mom and Dad, you must take care of yourself, be proud of your son, and don't forget that your son sacrificed for the country" "I volunteered to go to the front line to carry out the most dangerous missions"...... This is the voice of my comrades-in-arms, and I did not hesitate to write: "Be loyal to the country, regardless of life and death".
Therefore, every time I think of "clear love, only for China", I can't help but feel ripples in my heart, recalling myself at that time.
In just 8 words, it expresses endless courage and loyalty, and writes full of enthusiasm and faith. This is not only Chen Xiangrong's oath, but also the commitment of all Chinese soldiers.
Because I was them, I know and understand them better. Danger is ahead, and they won't run away. Forward, forward, forward! is their only choice, because behind them is the motherland and the people.
Towards the end of the interview, Chen Shu said that the entire work was not fully completed until the morning before the opening of the exhibition, and that the last item he polished was the broken glasses of the battalion commander Chen Hongjun.
The glasses were unremarkable, and even though I was so close to the work on the day of the interview, I probably wouldn't have noticed it if he hadn't shown it to me.
When making this pair of glasses, Chen Shu also struggled many times in his heart, whether to make it or not, because it is small, only 5 millimeters, and it is very complicated, and no one may notice it at all.
But in the end he did it, saying, "If I don't make these glasses, I feel sorry for them." ”
Hearing this, in addition to being moved, I also felt a little more relieved and grateful in my heart. The phrase "the army loves the people, and the people support the army" is not a blunt slogan, but has the most vivid and vivid interpretation.
After the live broadcast, I returned to the scene to find Chen Shu to express my gratitude, and before leaving, he told me that if I had to express the theme of the work in one sentence, it would be "The people will not forget!"
This reminds me of an interview with Chen Xiangrong's sister earlier, and she told the reason why she insisted on going to the campus and telling the story of her younger brother Chen Xiangrong over and over again.
"Although it takes me a long time to mention my brother's sacrifice, every martyr deserves respect and should be publicized and reported so that everyone can remember them. ”
It is not only the duty of journalists to let more people see, hear, remember, and better convey energy and emotion, but also my mission as a retired soldier.
