The spacious and bright exhibition hall is filled with all kinds of vivid and auspicious charcoal sculptures, each of which incorporates traditional calligraphy and painting elements, so that the paintings extend from the paper to the "charcoal", and the pieces of activated carbon give a "soul".
Pan Hengjun, who majored in fine arts, got acquainted with activated carbon at an exposition at the Beijing Agricultural Exhibition Center in 2006. "Activated carbon can purify the water and the air, which made me interested in it, and I thought it was a sunrise industry, so I jumped into it. Since then, Pan Hengjun has begun to devote himself to the study of activated carbon. In 2008, he registered Yucheng Deyuan Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. and began to develop charcoal carving artworks. In 2022, Deyuan charcoal carving was selected as "Shandong Handmade Preferred 100".
The company now has a professional R&D team and painting team, with a production base of more than 10,000 square meters, high-precision automatic CNC engraving equipment and secondary carbonization activation furnace. Pan Hengjun introduced that the activated carbon is pressed and formed under the "blessing" of high technology, and then meticulously hand-carved and painted, and it takes more than 10 hours to complete a work.
From a family workshop with a monthly output of 300 pieces and a single variety, to a comprehensive processing enterprise with an annual output of 80,000 pieces and more than 300 categories, Pan Hengjun has adhered to it for 17 years.
