Application analysis of S-Video ports

author:LCOM Nordon

As a type of audio and video cable, S-Video has been favored by many users. So far, the S-Video cable has also undergone some changes, and this article will explain the application of the S-Video port cable.

1. Port analysis of S-Video

S-VideoThe specific English full name is Separate Video,In order to achieve better video effects,People began to explore a faster, better and higher definition of video transmission method,This is the current S-Video (also known as two-component video interface),The meaning of Separate Video is to transmit the Video signal separately,That is, the chroma signal C on the basis of the AV interface It appeared and developed in the late 90s of the last century, usually using the standard 4 cores (without sound effects) or the extended 7 cores (including sound effects).

Graphics cards and video devices with S-Video interface (e.g., analog video capture/editing cards, TVs and quasi-professional monitors, TV cards/TV boxes, and video projection equipment, etc.) have been more common at present, compared with AV interfaces, because it no longer carries out Y/C mixed transmission, so there is no need to carry out bright color separation and decoding work, and the use of independent transmission channels largely avoids the image distortion caused by signal crosstalk in the video equipment, and greatly improves the clarity of the image.

However, S-Video still has to mix two chromatic aberration signals (Cr Cb) into a chroma signal C, transmit it, and then decode it into Cb and Cr in the display device for processing, which still brings some signal loss and distortion (this distortion is small but can still be found when tested under rigorous broadcast video equipment), and because of Cr Cb The bandwidth of the chromaticity signal is also limited by the mixing, so although S-Video is already relatively good, it is still far from perfect, although S-Video is not the best, but considering the current market conditions and other factors such as comprehensive cost, it is still a more common video interface.

  • 模制S-Video线缆,公头/母头

These high-quality S-Video cable assemblies feature dual 75 ohm coaxial cables for mismatched video transmission. Molded strain relief mini Din 4 connectors with gold-plated contacts ensure distortion-free performance.

75 ohm S video signal transmission, gold-plated contacts reduce signal loss, and molded mesh tail make the cable assembly extremely durable.

  • Assembled S-Video Cable, male/dual BNC male

This series of cables allows for connection between SVHS connectors and dual BNC male connectors. This type of conversion is commonly used for the interconnection of home entertainment devices. All S-Video and BNC connectors have gold-plated contacts to minimize signal loss. Dual-core coaxial cable is used for better video signal transmission.
