Her early life was filled with the exploration and love of Buddhism, and this spiritual pursuit eventually led her to abandon her secular life as an adult and choose to become a monk, devoting her life to the cultivation and dissemination of Buddhism.
By 1995, when Master Ren Yi was approaching her prime, she sensed that her earthly practice was coming to an end. In Buddhism, death is not only a symbol of death, but also the ultimate state of liberation from samsara and attainment of nirvana. In order to achieve this state of holiness, Master Ren Yi chose the "sitting jar", an ancient and extremely rare Buddhist ritual of death.
In the last months of her life, she summoned her disciple, Venerable Sishang, to her. When a ray of winter sunlight shone into the cold meditation room, Master Renyi spoke slowly, his voice weak but still firm: "Sishang, I am leaving this world. When I pass away, don't cremate my body, I want to be able to sit in a vat and keep it. ”
Although Venerable Sishang was saddened by Master's imminent departure, he knew that this was Master's final choice in his cultivation, so he responded solemnly: "Master, your will will be obeyed by your disciples. If your body is still uncorrupted after three years, I will respectfully affix it to you in accordance with Buddhist tradition. ”
Master Renyi smiled and shook his head: "Sishang, in the era of the end of the Dharma, it is important to recite the Buddha, and there is no need to be attached to the form. After I leave, I will entrust everything to you. She then began her hunger strike and began to refuse all food and water from the beginning of the 10th lunar month, and only sat on her bed to meditate.
Seven days later, Master Ren Yi peacefully stopped breathing during meditation at the age of 85. Three years passed silently, and many believers and monks gathered in Jiuhua Mountain, waiting for the moment when the vat was opened.

A shocking scene appeared: the body of the benevolent master sitting in the jar was completely free of corruption, her skin was smooth and firm, her hair had grown, and her hands seemed to be gently holding a silver needle. This scene not only verified the profound practice of Master Renyi, but also deeply shocked all those who witnessed this miracle.
With tears in his eyes, Master Sishang bowed deeply to the body of the benevolent and righteous master, and the admiration and nostalgia for the master in his heart came spontaneously. The surrounding crowd also recited Buddhist scriptures in low voices, praying for true liberation and peace for the soul of the righteous teacher.
The ceremony of the death of Mrs. Renyi has not only become a good story in Jiuhua Mountain, but also deeply affected the hearts of every participant. She had no desires or desires during her lifetime, and devoted her life to the cultivation and dissemination of the Dharma, and her consummate death showed her profound cultivation and sincerity to the Dharma.
Subsequently, in accordance with Master's wishes, Venerable Sishang placed the body of Master Ren Yi in the temple's Jizo Hall for devotees and visitors to pay respects. Her story and miracles have become important teaching materials for the transmission and education of future generations, inspiring more people to devote themselves to the study and practice of Buddhism.
The life of Master Renyi and the miracle of her death are not only a myth in the hearts of Buddhists, but also a revelation to everyone's spiritual pursuit. In this time of rapid change and great material temptation, her story reminds us that inner peace and spiritual freedom are the most precious treasures of humanity.
