China's land is complex and diverse, mainly hilly and mountainous, and many areas cannot use large-scale agricultural machinery for operation. Therefore, people fantasize about using mechanization to expand farmland quickly, but in reality it is very difficult to achieve.
In addition, the problems caused by smallholder farming cannot be ignored. Due to the constraints of scale, smallholder farmers are often at a disadvantage in bargaining and are easily depressed by grain traders. If the product is shipped to the processing plant, a part of the payment is also paid in advance. Therefore, even if you work hard, at the end of a year, the income of a family is only tens of thousands of yuan. After all, in today's economy, this income is only enough to meet the basic necessities.
Farmers are engaged in agriculture with great uncertainty, and if they encounter natural disasters such as droughts, floods, pests, etc., their income will not be guaranteed, and even the most basic food security will be difficult to guarantee. To a certain extent, the survival and living standards of the peasants on the mainland are still in a state of "relying on the sky for food." This fact is obviously far from those so-called "farming makes a lot of money".
