Deng Yingchao is a great advocate of seeking truth from facts. Especially in the face of Premier Zhou's manuscript, Deng Yingchao is extremely attentive, always reading carefully and verifying carefully.

In 1979, when Deng Yingchao received the manuscript completed by the compiler, he made an opinion: It is true that most of the responsible persons of the Kuomintang in the provinces at that time were Communist Party members, but the names of Li Dazhao and Li Xijiu should be added in the north. The former and the compilers all agreed, but the latter made them a little puzzled, was this famous Kuomintang veteran also a member of the Communist Party?

Deng Yingchao: Li Xijiu is a member of the Communist Party

Li Xijiu was a member of the Communist Party who had been dormant for many years and had made significant contributions to the revolution. And the reason why Deng Yingchao knows so much is because she has worked with Li Xijiu for a period of time, and she has to start from the beginning.

Li Xijiu went to Japan to study at public expense in 1905. There, he became acquainted with Dr. Sun Yat-sen, gradually learned about the bourgeois idea of democratic revolution, and opened his own revolutionary road. Earlier, he followed Sun Yat-sen, and he was the backbone of the League until the establishment of the Kuomintang.

In April 1913, Li Xijiu was on the list of members of the House of Representatives. Unfortunately, the fruits of the Xinhai Revolution were eventually stolen by Yuan Shikai, and the nascent government of the Republic of China became an empty shell in the blink of an eye. Li Xijiu temporarily "fell silent" and chose to return to Baoding Zhili Police Academy to teach.

In 1917, Dr. Sun Yat-sen raised the banner of protecting the Dharma, and Li Xijiu went south to Guangzhou and returned to the "big army" of the revolution. It was also this year that Li Xijiu formed an indissoluble bond with the Communist Party. In November 1917, the cannon of the "October Revolution" blew the spring breeze of socialism across the land of China, and Li Xijiu also bathed in it. He became inquisitive about Marxist doctrine and began to study related works.

With this layer, after Li Xijiu met Li Dazhao in Beijing in 1922, he often discussed relevant issues with Li Dazhao. In the exchange with Li Dazhao, Li Xijiu gained a deeper understanding of Marxism, and he began to transform into a Marxist. Later, after Li Dazhao's introduction, Li Xijiu joined the Communist Party of China. After that, Li Xijiu used his identity as a veteran of the Kuomintang as a cover to work for the party in secret.

Because Li Xijiu joined the party relatively early and is a secret member of the Communist Party of China, few people even within our party know his identity. Deng Yingchao knew because she was in charge of the leadership of the Tianjin Prefectural Committee and the Kuomintang Provincial Party Department together with Li Xijiu during the Great Revolution.

In 1925, the Tianjin Local Executive Committee of the Communist Party of China added the Education and Propaganda Committee and the Peasants and Workers Committee, and Li Xijiu was one of its main leaders. In the same year, Deng Yingchao changed from a member of the Chinese Communist Youth League to a member of the Communist Party of China and served as the head of the Women's Department of the Tianjin Prefectural Committee of the Communist Party of China. However, after a few months of working together, Deng Yingchao was ordered to go south to Guangzhou to take charge of women's work in Guangdong.

Li Xijiu, a man who seeks the country

Premier Zhou spoke highly of Li Xijiu and praised him as "an old man seeking the country".

After the "Chongqing Negotiations" in 1945, the domestic situation was turbulent, and civil war was on the verge of breaking out. At this critical moment, Li Xijiu has been carrying out united front work. He participated in the uprising of Gao Shuxun, commander of the New Eighth Army and deputy commander of the 11th Theater, and later worked as Geng Youlin, commander of the Kuomintang North China Supply Zone.

In the peaceful liberation of Beiping, Li Xijiu also made meritorious contributions. General Fu Zuoyi once asked him to be his secret envoy to Xibaipo, Pingshan, to discuss with our party about the peaceful liberation of Beiping. Later, Li Xijiu was sent to Changsha to do the work of General Cheng Qian, and asked Cheng Qian to "stand still, and then revolt after the army crosses the river." This work was also successfully completed by Li Xijiu.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Li Xijiu also continued to shine on the road of revolution. He once said: "Although I am old, I am determined to contribute my strength and move forward together with everyone!" Li Xijiu actively offered suggestions and suggestions for the construction of new China, and he was also resolute in doing his work in a down-to-earth manner. Despite his advanced age, he served as the head of the Provincial Disaster Relief Committee.

Li Xijiu did not choose to spend his days in the office, but took the lead in everything. Whether it is disaster prevention and relief or water conservancy construction, he must always follow up and never miss any meetings or symposiums. Even if he lingered on the sickbed, he cared about the people. A week before his death, he also sent a special letter to Yang Xiufeng, chairman of the Hebei Provincial Government, to express concern about the spring epidemic situation and disease prevention work in the province.

Li Xijiu has been in the dust and dust all his life, and he has worked hard to move forward on the road of serving the country and the people. He never asks for anything in return for these efforts, and he is extremely frugal in life. The third-class car and the large cabin are his first choice for going out, and being able to eat and dress is his greatest pursuit of food and clothing. On March 10, 1952, this old man who had worked for New China all his life closed his eyes and left us forever.
