At that time, Baidu Encyclopedia's content and services will be migrated to the Mini Program platform within the Baidu App, through which users can use more comprehensive product functions.
According to the data, Baidu Encyclopedia is an open and free online encyclopedia launched by Baidu. The beta version went live on April 20, 2006, and the official version was released on April 21, 2008. Up to now, Baidu Encyclopedia has included more than 28 million entries, and more than 7.8 million users have participated in the editing of entries, covering almost all known fields of knowledge.
On Apple's App Store platform, Baidu Encyclopedia App ranks 109th in the "References" category, with a total of 492 ratings and a rating of 3.1.
In addition, despite the imminent shutdown, the Baidu Encyclopedia App was updated today with some bugs fixed to ensure user experience.
The scale and activity of Baidu APP users continue to increase
It is understood that Baidu Encyclopedia's offline APP can not only help optimize its service model on the mobile terminal, but also integrate with Baidu App is also expected to improve the user experience.
As the core product of the company's mobile ecosystem, the user scale and activity of Baidu App have been increasing in recent years. According to the previously disclosed financial report, as of December 2023, the number of monthly active users of Baidu App has reached 667 million, a year-on-year increase of 3%, a record high. At the same time, it is the No. 1 search and information flow application in China.
Baidu has said that, unlike most mobile apps, the Baidu App aggregates content and services from third-party apps and websites through the company's AI building blocks, and directs traffic directly to closed ecosystems, as well as to third-party content and service providers with an on-premise app-like experience. At the same time, Baidu App also uses Baijiahao accounts, smart mini programs and network partners on hosting pages to continue to develop third-party content and services under the company's open platform model.
In the past year, Baidu has also comprehensively promoted the "AI native reconstruction" of its products and services, releasing AI native applications such as Baidu's new search and Wenxin Yiyan app, as well as AI marketing tools such as Qingge and brand agents.
In terms of performance, Baidu's revenue in 2023 will reach 134.598 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9%, and the net profit attributable to Baidu (non-GAAP) will be 28.7 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 39%.
Before the launch, Baidu's U.S. stock was quoted at $98.37 per share in pre-market trading, up 1.16%.
