Some people even believe that with the current military strength of the PLA, once it really decides to launch a campaign to take over Taiwan, it may be like "chopping melons and vegetables" and it will not take long to annihilate all diehards on the island. However, the well-known "strawberry soldiers" on the island could not resist the strong attack of our heroic People's Liberation Army at all, and the battle could be completely resolved within a week at the earliest and less than a month at the latest.
However, for the above statements, the author believes that if we really think like this, then it is too underestimating the enemy. It is true that the overall combat strength of the PLA far surpasses that of the Taiwan army, but the armed forces on the island are also not muddy, and they can even rank in the top 20 or so in the world.
In particular, the so-called "decapitation" operation mentioned by many people may not be so easy to carry out once a war really breaks out in the Taiwan Strait, that is, it is difficult for the PLA to destroy the command system of the Taiwan military in the first place. Once Lai Qingde and others take refuge in sturdy underground fortifications and use advanced means of communication to remotely control the Taiwan army, this will become a difficult bone for the PLA to face.
It has been learned that since Chiang Kai-shek's defeat and retreat to Taiwan, the Taiwan authorities have been building underground fortifications in an attempt to block the PLA's offensive with these solid underground structures. In particular, the Taiwan military attaches great importance to underground command posts.
According to the current plan of the Taiwan military, once a war really breaks out in the Taiwan Strait, then Tsai Ing-wen or Lai Qingde, who is about to take office, will immediately take a helicopter from her residence or use the tunnel under the mansion to withdraw directly to Jinan Mountain, 8 kilometers away.
This is because in the depths of the Jinan Mountain, after years of "deep cultivation" and meticulous building, the Taiwan military has built a complete and solid "joint operations command center," which is also known as the "Hengshan Command Post."
According to the Taiwan authorities, the "Hengshan Command Post" was designed and built entirely to the standards of the US President's wartime command post, and is equipped with living facilities exclusive to the leaders of the Taiwan region, as well as equipment including high-power generators and water storage systems.
The Taiwan side claims that the "Hengshan Command Post" is extremely strong, and can even resist nuclear weapons with a yield of 20,000 tons. Moreover, the optical fiber network used by the command post will not be paralyzed even if it is hit by the electromagnetic pulse of a nuclear explosion, and it will also be able to exercise remote command over external Taiwan military units.
In recent years, the constant intervention of the US military has caused tension in the Taiwan Strait. It is precisely under these circumstances that when the Taiwan military held the "Han Kuang military exercise," it deliberately rehearsed the "anti-beheading" operation on many occasions, with the aim of practicing how to quickly transfer the leader of the Taiwan region, that is, the current Tsai Ing-wen or the future Lai Ching-te, from his daily office to the "Hengshan command post" in wartime, so as to continue to organize "resistance" and wait for external rescue, including from the United States and other allies.
Even, once Taipei is unable to hold it, or if the Hengshan command post is no longer able to guarantee the safety of the high-level personnel in the Taiwan region, then they can also quickly transfer to the snow-capped mountain tunnel through the relevant tunnels of Jinan Mountain, and in a short period of time, all the high-level "Taiwan military" leaders can be transferred to the relevant areas on the east coast of Taiwan Island. As far as the Taiwan military is concerned, if the PLA really launches a campaign to take over Taiwan, then it is most likely that the first thing to strike at is the area along the west coast of Taiwan Island, and once all these places are lost, it will be possible to continue to ensure their security by transferring all the high-level officials in the Taiwan region to the east coast during the war.
At that time, due to the curvature of the earth, even if the PLA's missiles fly to the east coast of Taiwan Island, they are likely to fly over these fortifications in an instant, and they will not be able to brake or turn their heads to attack.
Of course, this is only the unilateral self-righteousness of the Taiwan authorities, and once the PLA is really preparing to launch an attack on Taiwan, then it is entirely possible that the so-called "Hengshan command post," which the Taiwan military claims to be impregnable, will be destroyed by the PLA's advanced laser-guided ground-penetrating bombs.
Even if these measures do not work, then the PLA can completely wipe out all the stubborn forces on the island that dare to resist head-on with great strength, and there is no need to blindly consider the so-called "decapitation" operation.
At that time, the PLA's fleet will be able to launch a large number of hypersonic anti-ship missiles, such as the YJ-21, and bury the Taiwan military's naval forces in the sea in a short period of time. At the same time, the tactical missiles of the PLA Rocket Force can also fully cooperate with advanced fighters such as the J-16 and J-20 to target all airfields on the island to strike at the first time. The military bases of the Taiwan military along the east coast of Taiwan Island can be destroyed by the PLA's aircraft carrier and carrier-based aircraft units. At that time, it is very likely that the fighters of the Taiwan military will not even have a chance to take off, and even if some fighters on duty are able to take off, they will not be able to fight a battle against the advanced fighters such as the Jian-20 of the People's Liberation Army.
At the same time, the anti-ship ballistic missiles equipped by the PLA, such as the DF-21D and DF-26, are known as "aircraft carrier killers" and will inevitably be put on full alert at that time. The PLA will also activate the system of denial of operations and make a statement to the outside world that any external forces that dare to meddle in the battle for the PLA's takeover of Taiwan may become a "legitimate target" of the PLA, with the aim of deterring the US military from sending troops to intervene.
Once the PLA completely gains air and sea supremacy, and deters the US military from daring to watch the fire from across the shore, then the PLA can organize the Type 075 amphibious landing fleet to take the lead, and then assemble a large number of transport ships to transport the massive PLA land combat units to the island. Once the PLA land combat units set foot on the land of Taiwan Island, then the outcome of this battle will already be obvious, after all, for the PLA Army, even the US military does not dare to confront it head-on, let alone the "strawberry" soldiers on the island.
Once the PLA gathers forces and quickly liberates the major cities on the island of Taiwan, then those high-level Taiwan officials hiding in the so-called fortified underground palaces, including Tsai Ing-wen or Lai Qingde and others, will lose the will to fight in the face of the PLA's encirclement. Whether it is the "Hengshan Command Post" in Taipei or the underground fortifications along the east coast of the island, when the time comes, the PLA only needs to send troops to surround the entrances and exits of these fortifications, so how will the high-ranking members of the Taiwan military who are hiding inside deal with it?

Therefore, there is no need to say anything else, the main task of the PLA at present is to strengthen the building of the strength of all branches of the armed forces as soon as possible, so that the PLA can have a higher naval and air combat capability in any area, such as the east and west coasts of Taiwan Island.
