On April 11, the Industry and Transformation Working Committee of the China Sleep Research Association organized a seminar on the application and implementation of the group standard of "Sleep Ergonomics Technical Requirements and Evaluation Specifications for Interior Wall Coatings" in Beijing, which discussed the application and implementation of group standards and the compliance evaluation of sleep-friendly coating products, and clarified the direction and ideas of product landing.

At the seminar, the experts listened carefully to the introduction of the China Institute of Standardization and Dulux on the causes and results of the formulation of the group standard of "Technical Requirements and Evaluation Specifications for Sleep Ergonomics of Interior Wall Coatings". The experts recognised and appreciated Dulux's innovative focus on sleep health.
When introducing the new product development ideas of sleep-friendly coatings, Yang Peng, senior product development manager of Dulux Innovation R&D Center, said: the group standard "Sleep Ergonomics Technical Requirements and Evaluation Specifications for Interior Wall Coatings" has a significant guiding and normative role in the development of sleep-friendly coatings. Functional features such as antimicrobial and antifungal resistance, as well as sleep ergonomics, meet the technical requirements of the group standard.
According to the typical experimental test conditions of coatings, the Ergonomics Laboratory of China National Institute of Standardization (CIIA) has carried out a comparative evaluation study on the impact of Dulux sleep-friendly products on sleep quality by combining experimental testing and user experience, and completed the objective and subjective indicators of sleep quality from multiple aspects such as total sleep duration, sleep latency, sleep stage, sleep efficiency, sleep continuity, etc. The results showed that Dulux's new products performed well on a number of indicators that had an impact on sleep quality, and performed significantly on some indicators.
At the meeting, Fang Luping, deputy secretary-general of the Building Decoration and Decoration Materials Association and an expert in the paint industry, also said that the current home decoration materials are no longer limited to the functionality of the material itself, and the paint is not only to cover and protect the decorative wall, but also to play the role of mildew, waterproof, air purification and so on. As a larger decoration material in the room, if it can provide consumers with more product efficacy, it is undoubtedly very meaningful, the launch of Dulux sleep-friendly products can be said to fill the gap in the market and technical standards of sleep coating products, and promote the synchronous development of sleep-friendly products and technical standards in the mainland coating industry.
