As an important part of the "Great Ideological and Political" workshop of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, teachers and students from the Sichuan Academy of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy and the School of Plastic Arts walked into the former site of the Southern Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Chongqing Office of the Eighth Route Army, and carried out a special teaching of "Tracing the Red Footprints and Inheriting the Hongyan Spirit" in the place where the leaders of the Communist Party of China lived and fought during the Anti-Japanese War.

The first lesson of the workshop was explained by Yang Jing, a teacher of ideology and politics at the Sichuan American School of Marxism, to explain the spirit of Hongyan. She sorted out and excavated the classic art resources with the theme of Hongyan spirit, and introduced artworks, art masters, art stories, and art voices into the explanation as cases. In her opinion, learning the spiritual connotation of Hongyan before painting can help students integrate their personal historical perception and ideological and political understanding into their artistic creation, and in the historical scene, students can intuitively feel the profound cultural heritage contained in the historical sites and the heroic deeds of revolutionary martyrs.

The theme of red rock has always been a major focus in the creative history of Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts. Therefore, in this on-site teaching, Geng Shan, a teacher from the School of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Arts, and Xiong Lijun, a teacher from the School of Plastic Arts, combined with the excellent works on the theme of Hongyan on the spot, respectively explained and introduced the creative background and appreciation value of works such as "Sister Jiang's Manuscript", "Red Rock Spring" and "Red Rock Wind Bones".

Xiong Lijun, a teacher at Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, hopes to play the role of higher art education and pass on the spirit of Hongyan from generation to generation. Pei Yujiao, a student from the School of Plastic Arts, said that this sketching activity made her deeply understand, "The spirit of Hongyan is not just words in history books, it is a living force that exists in the hearts of each of us." We inherit the spirit of Hongyan, but also reflect it in practical actions.
