3. Wang Dazhong's contribution to scientific research and academic achievements

Wang Dazhong is a well-known scholar and strategic scientist in the field of international nuclear energy, and is committed to the development of advanced nuclear energy systems with inherent safety characteristics. He led the industry-university-research joint team to realize the overall development process of China's high-temperature gas-cooled reactor technology from following and running to leading, laying an important technical foundation for the mainland to gradually move to the forefront of the world in the field of advanced nuclear energy.

In the 60s of the 20th century, he participated in and led the design, construction and operation of China's self-built shielded experimental reactor;

Since the mid-70s, he has presided over and led the research and development of high-temperature gas-cooled reactors, and proposed a new concept of modular high-temperature gas-cooled reactors, which has won invention patents in Germany, the United States, Japan and other countries. He presided over and led the research and development of 10 MW high-temperature gas-cooled reactors, a key project of the 863 high-tech plan, and initially built a high-temperature reactor research base in China;

In the 80s, he created a new field of nuclear heating research in China, and presided over the research, design, construction and operation of the world's first 5 mega shell nuclear heating reactor. He has also led research on the use of nuclear heating reactors for combined heat and power, air conditioning and refrigeration, and seawater desalination.
