Xu Jianmin, field technical leader of the third national soil census in Shanxi Province: Our sampling work includes the collection of water mass samples, which are collected in the surface root layer of 3.5 kilograms, and transported in rigid plastic boxes. Then, we have to take a diagnostic profile. As we have just seen, the diagnostic profile has been collected into a 0-1 meter round bucket and then placed in a wooden box for preservation. Finally, it is necessary to take ring knife samples and bag samples, that is to say, the ring knife sample needs to measure the bulk weight, so the bag sample is collected for testing. In the profile, it can be seen that the experts have just carried out stratification, and more than 5 kilograms of bag samples are collected in each layer of profile, and sent to the laboratory for analysis of the physical and chemical properties of the soil.

Since the launch of the third national soil census, Pinglu District has conscientiously carried out field survey sampling and internal testing and laboratory work, and has completed 50% of the soil census tasks. The census adopts a unified national soil census work platform system, each point has its own "ID card", and the researchers use the "quadrangle" method to remove the excess soil and collect the required farmland surface soil.

It is understood that the purpose of the third national soil census is to implement the strategy of "storing grain on the ground and storing grain in technology" and effectively ensure food security. Through the census, we can not only better understand and protect land resources, but also make positive contributions to promoting the construction of ecological civilization and promoting the comprehensive, coordinated and sustainable development of the economy and society.
