Recently, a relatively rare rock art group was discovered in Fangcheng County.
The petroglyph group is located in the northeast of Gaozhuang Village, Yuandian Hui Township, Fangcheng County, on the naturally exposed rock, the rock is a 45-degree slope, the petroglyph is about six meters long, about five meters wide, the area is more than 30 square meters, four groups are distributed from east to west, one and two groups are unrecognizable due to wind and rain erosion and sun exposure, three groups are portraits, cave patterns, four groups are common fusiform fourteen cave patterns, and the lower part is continuous network checkered and groove patterns.
Fangcheng County rock paintings began to appear in 2010, mainly showing circular pits, long pits, groove connection patterns, boulder worship, etc. Because of its large area, wide distribution and complex content, it has attracted extensive attention from cultural relics workers at home and abroad. Robert Béderick, Executive Chairman of the World Rock Art Federation, Kumar, President of the Indian Rock Art Association, and a large number of scholars and organizations, such as the Rock Art Research Center of Minzu University of China and the Ningxia Rock Art Research Center, have visited Fangcheng for investigation and research. Fangcheng County cultural relics workers were also invited to the American Rock Art Research Conference to make the "Fangcheng Rock Art Investigation Report".
According to Li Yingnian, the former director of the Fangcheng County Cultural Relics Bureau and an expert in cultural relics, the character portraits and large areas of checkered patterns found this time are really rare, especially the figures, caves, and checkered patterns appear in an area at the same time to form a picture, which is the first time in the previous rock art investigation and research.
After seeing the picture, Professor Tang Huisheng, a member of the Executive Committee of the World Rock Art Committee, praised again and again, "It is very precious! The portrait should be a treasure of your Fangcheng rock paintings." "At present, the rock art group has attracted great attention from the rock art community.
In recent years, Fangcheng County attaches great importance to the protection of cultural relics, has undertaken or participated in high-standard rock art seminars for many times, and through a one-year rock art survey work, more than 2,000 rock paintings of various types have been found, and in 2016, 7 rock paintings were announced as county-level cultural relics protection units, delineated the scope of cultural relics protection and construction control zones, and screened and announced 13 rock paintings as immovable cultural relics protection points.
