Manchester United have reportedly contacted Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel as they are looking for a potential replacement for Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.
Dutchman Ten Hag has enjoyed a tumultuous season with the Red Devils and his future is full of speculation. He is currently under contract with Manchester United until 2025, but some coaches have been told to take over in the summer.
Kicker's Holzner says Manchester United have been in contact with Thomas Tuchel and could offer the former Chelsea boss a route out of the Bundesliga. The German will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season, and he joined Bayern in March 2023.
According to the report, some Manchester United owners Sir Jim Ratcliffe are keen to bring Tuchel to the club as he looks to restructure the squad ahead of the 2024/25 season. The 50-year-old, who has two Ligue 1 titles, a Bundesliga title and a Champions League trophy, recently qualified for this year's UCL semi-finals with Bayern Munich after beating Arsenal.
However, Tuchel's side did cede the Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusen, who were crowned champions a month before the final matchweek of the season.
Ten Hag has come under further criticism after his side's narrow win over Coventry City secured a place for the Wembley FA Cup final, although he still praised his side for finally crossing the line. Manchester United had taken a 3-0 lead in Sunday's semi-final just before an hour, but the Championship side somehow forced the game into extra-time and were only beaten on penalties. The FA Cup is Manchester United's last chance to win the trophy this season, but they must beat defending champions Manchester City.
