On April 21, sponsored by Beijing Technology and Business University, the Propaganda Department of the Fangshan District Committee of the Communist Party of China, and the Fangshan District Culture and Tourism Bureau, and co-organized by the Internet Information Office of the Fangshan District Party Committee, the Fangshan District Education Committee, the Fangshan District University Town Management Committee, the Fangshan District Rong Media Center, and the Fangshan District Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and undertaken by the Fangshan District New Era Civilization Practice Center and the Fangshan District Cultural Activity Center, the Fangshan District National Reading Activity was officially launched, and the "School Poetry Reading Meeting" was held at the Liangxiang Campus of Beijing Technology and Business University People from all walks of life in Fangshan who love reading, as well as teachers and students from colleges and universities, gathered together to go to the reading appointment, share the journey of books, pay tribute to the classics with reading, and interpret the love in their hearts.

It is reported that in April 2010, a reading group of more than 100 people composed of primary and secondary school students and people from all walks of life in Fangshan District kicked off the prelude to the mass reading activities in Fangshan District for the first time, and has been held for 14 consecutive sessions. Over the years, the scale of the poetry recital has increased from 100 to 1,000 people, and the content of the recitation has ranged from classic poems to original masterpieces.
The event is divided into two parts: indoor and outdoor. The outdoor activities reflect the concept of combining school and locality, and the Fangshan District Cultural Activity Center and Beijing Technology and Business University jointly organized a book exchange collection, and more than 1,000 classic books were passed from hand to hand, truly realizing knowledge sharing. As a traditional reading promotion activity of Fangshan District Library, the "Book Exchange Collection" has entered the university campus this year, which not only enriches the campus cultural life of college students, but also carefully prepares a rich range of books for college students as gifts for "World Book Day", truly realizing the sharing of school and local resources and building a scholarly Fangshan together.
The indoor activity, that is, a large-scale mass poetry recitation meeting, kicked off the prelude to the 2024 national reading activity in Fangshan District, and simultaneously launched the reading activity of Beijing Technology and Business University. In the poetry recitation meeting, reading enthusiasts from all walks of life in Fangshan District formed a thousand-person recitation group, including vigorous primary and secondary school students, youthful college students, and energetic elderly people.
The book is divided into three chapters: "The East Wind Blows", "Ten Thousand Flowers Bloom" and "Spring is Unlimited", which adopts a combination of poetry recitation, scene performance and group recitation on and off the stage, and deduces the struggle story of the people of Fangshan on the new journey, showing the vitality of the land of Fangshan in the new era, and highlighting the achievements of the construction of "six Fangshan". The event was broadcast live through the platforms of the Municipal Cultural Center, the Internet Information Office of the District Party Committee, the District Financial Media Center, and the District Cultural Activity Center, and the number of online viewers exceeded 651,000, further showing the good spiritual outlook of the people of Fangshan.
Reciting Chinese classics, carrying forward the Chinese spirit, gathering China's strength, and taking the Chinese road well. As a major area of historical and cultural resources, Fangshan District has attached great importance to the reading of the whole people for many years, striving to meet the reading needs of the people and establishing the concept of lifelong learning. Fangshan District has built a network of reading facilities in various forms such as libraries, urban study rooms, self-service libraries, and bookstores, all over the streets and towns, and the storage of literature resources and digital books has reached more than one million volumes.
The Fangshan District Cultural Activity Center carries out public lectures and recitation training all year round, and establishes recitation bases and recitation teams throughout schools, factories and mines, enterprises and institutions, administrative villages and communities. Through a complete network of reading facilities and point-to-point reading promotion activities, the reading needs of the people have been effectively served, and the reading work of the whole region has achieved remarkable results.
It is reported that in 2024, all streets, towns, factories and mines, and schools in Fangshan District will continue to hold unique reading promotion activities to actively advocate reading for all. Among them, Dongfen Village, Chengguan Street, held the 7th Begonia Poetry Meeting entitled "Spring Breeze Invites Poetry Meeting"; Fangshan District Ecological Environment Bureau carried out a reading promotion activity with the theme of "Reading Ecological Beauty and Helping Dare to Carbon" in combination with regional ecological construction; Zhoukoudian Town organized a mass poetry reading meeting at the "Red Basket Memorial Hall" in Huangshandian Village with the theme of "Striving for a New Journey and Scholarly Zhoukoudian". The extensive development of national reading activities has given full play to the important role of reading in disseminating ideology and culture, improving national literacy, inheriting national spirit, and cultivating civilized customs, further stimulating the public's enthusiasm for reading, cultivating the public's reading habits, and improving the public's cultural literacy, so that the concept of lifelong reading and all-age reading will be deeply rooted in the hearts of the people, and the strong fragrance of books will fill Fangshan.
