A mouthful of Henan dialect makes us closer to our hometown

Top News: The last time I returned to Liangzhuang, what did you feel was the change there?

Liang Hong: The last time I went back was in early November last year. You can see that some people in Liangzhuang are growing up, aging, some people are leaving, returning, life is like this, Liangzhuang people are the same, we are all growing up with the times. In the past two years, you asked me to talk about the changes in Liangzhuang, and I said that the changes may be very slow, and even imperceptible, but what will happen here after a few decades? I think that as an author, I still have to have patience and determination to look forward to these changes.

Top News: Looking at Henan from the perspective of a writer, what aspects of Henan will you pay more attention to?

Liang Hong: Henan is my hometown, so I will pay more attention to its development and hope that Henan's culture will be more prosperous. In my opinion, Henan is one of the most important birthplaces of Central Plains culture, and after thousands of years of blending and development, Henan should be the place with the most cultural heritage.

My hometown is in Nanyang, and I can feel the yearning and desire of Nanyang people for culture. Therefore, I think that our reading should be promoted, our culture should be more extractive, and we should become a more integrated and modern Central Plains culture.

Top News: In the movie "Swim Until the Sea Turns Blue", your son introduces himself in front of the camera that he was born in Henan and grew up in Beijing. When others ask him how to introduce himself in Henan dialect, he can't say it, so you teach him to speak Henan dialect, what is the meaning of this local accent?

Liang Hong: I think first of all, it is meaningful to individuals, for example, in the family, everyone speaks in tongues, and we can also speak in tongues, and we will be very happy. Secondly, dialect is a state of culture, because dialect itself has local attributes, which contains the history of the place, the development of the place and the diversity of the language of the place.

I think it's a good state for a young person to be able to speak fluent dialects. His connection to his hometown is stronger, more symbolic, and more representative through this dialect. Young people can speak the words of their hometown, which is a symbol of their close spiritual and emotional connection with their hometown, and such a young person will definitely be very happy.

Hometown: The origin of emotions, the starting point of thinking about the world

Top News: Do you have an updated view on Henan's literature, and can you recommend some book lists?

Liang Hong: There are many good writers in Henan, such as Li Qingyuan, the author of "Kiln Change", and Zheng Zaihuan, the author of the post-90s. I think Henan is a place with a long history of culture, and it really has some inheritance, and there will definitely be more outstanding young generations of Henan literature in the future.

As for the book list, there are actually a lot of good books now, and I don't think I can share them casually, because my book list may not be liked by you. But no matter what, you can't go wrong with classic, time-sifted literary masterpieces.

Top News: What kind of strength do you draw from this land?

Liang Hong: Some people may not realize the power of this land and this street when they grow up, but when you grow up and look back at this land and street, and see that there are your house, your mother, and your father, you will suddenly find that in fact, we have never been separated from our hometown, and even your spiritual homecoming state may be more frequent after you leave your hometown.

For me, because I happen to be writing, I feel that the greatest strength that my hometown gives me is that it allows me to return to this land, to observe, to understand, to feel a closer connection with my hometown, and it supports me to continue to write new things.

Top News: What would you like to say to young writers in Henan?

Liang Hong: I think every piece of land has a kind of nourishment for us, since Henan is home, you can attach to it, you can choose to leave, you can choose to stay, but no matter what, home is the origin of your emotions, and it is the starting point for you to think about the world.

For young writers, there is actually no other shortcut, that is, to write hard and think hard. No matter where you are, when you start writing about your hometown, you must first think about what it means to you.
