Compared with the common edible bullfrogs on the market, the black spotted frog has a wide distribution, strong adaptability, fast reproduction, and a wide range of uses, and is a frog resource with greater economic value.
Yang Huagui, the person in charge of the black spotted frog breeding base, is a native of Xudi Village, and he responded to the government's call to return to his hometown two years ago to start a business. Yang Huagui successively went to Zhejiang and Qianjiang to learn black spotted frog breeding technology. This year, the black spotted frogs bred at the base will be on the market at the end of July and early August, and the finished frogs will be sold to the aquatic markets in Xiangyang and Wuhan.
According to Yang Huagui, his 20 acres of frog pond yield per mu can reach an average of about 5,000-6,000 catties, and the black spotted frog can grow up to about 2 taels, with delicate meat and high protein content, and a catty can be sold for about 26 yuan.
At present, the black spotted frog breeding base has driven more than 30 villagers to work in it. In the future, Yang Huagui also plans to drive the surrounding people to develop the black spotted frog industry together.
