The first class of "Folk Art Face to Face" was held
On the evening of April 19th, sponsored by the Shunde District Committee of the Communist Youth League and organized by the Xingtan Town Committee of the Communist Youth League and the Rongshutou Foundation, the first course of the Shunde Chinese New Year's Eve School - "Folk Art Face-to-face" Experience Workshop was held in Xingtan Qingtian Art District.
The event began with a simple unveiling ceremony for Xingtan Qingtian Art District as the "Guangdong Chinese New Year's Eve School". This night school is the Communist Youth League relying on the strong folk handicraft culture of Xingtan Qingtian, relying on the resources of folk craftsmen gathered by the Rongshutou Foundation, giving full play to the traditional skills and specialties of folk craftsmen, and promoting the extraordinary "collision" between young people and traditional folk handicrafts.
In the first evening class, Zhou Jihuang, a local craftsman in Xingtan (the inheritor of the handmade dragon boat model of Guanghui ingenuity), was invited to serve as a craftsman mentor to lead the students to experience the production process of "wooden tree", one of the important parts of the small dragon boat.
According to Master Zhou, there are as many as 20 steps in the production of a small dragon boat model, from cutting, creating wood, installing, tying the dragon heel, and installing the dragon head and tail, each step needs to be refined and concentrated. Sometimes a detail can be carved over and over for hours or even longer. The theme of making "wooden trees" this time is the first step to understand the process of making a small dragon boat. Through independent handicraft, students can intuitively feel the difficulties before the "birth" of traditional handicrafts and the painstaking efforts of craftsmen hidden in their works.
"Radial leading" woodcut experience
Ten minutes on stage, ten years off the stage. A knife, a shovel and a grinding, after three or five actions, Master Zhou has demonstrated the production process of "wood tree".
The process is not fast, but ingenuity. Under the guidance of Master Zhou, the students picked up handmade knives to sharpen, polish and polish the initial products of "Mu Hua". A few steps can be tedious due to repeated many times, and the model can also be damaged due to thick branches and leaves, and every time the wood is cut and sanded, it is a step closer to the finished product, and it is very proud. After polishing, students can color their own "wooden beams", and a pair of exclusive and unique "wooden beams" are born.
This Xingtan Qingtian Chinese New Year's Eve School hopes to enhance the artistic and cultural accomplishment of young people through cultural experience, heal the soul with simple folk handicrafts, and also hope to attract young people to return to their hometowns through local culture and create a gathering place for youth art and culture.
