On April 19, the reporter saw in the demonstration project park of agriculture and photovoltaic complementation in Dongwan Village, Ningyuanbao Town, that on the Gobi Desert on the south side of Dongwan Village, thousands of photovoltaic panels are standing here, and workers are planting 40,000 white thorn fruits and 3,000 sea buckthorn plants between the roadways of these photovoltaic power generation panels.

Large-scale planting of Jinchang's local specialties

This area is the planting base of white thorn fruit planned and constructed by the Dongwan Village Agriculture-PV Complementary Demonstration Project, with a total area of about 400 acres.

"White thorn" is a common sand plant in Jinchang, its fruit white thorn fruit, also known as "sour and fat", sweet and sour taste, high nutritional value, has the effect of regulating menstruation and activating blood, eliminating food and strengthening the stomach, etc., the "desert tea" produced with it is a local specialty of Jinchang.

According to Wang Chengtian, Secretary of the Party Committee of Dongwan Village, the white thorn fruit planting base is the village collective economy, and the final output of the white thorn fruit will be picked by the villagers and cooperate with relevant enterprises to carry out deep processing of products. "At present, the white thorn fruit products are relatively simple, and in the future, we will consider diversifying the development of white thorn fruit products and producing more popular products such as white thorn juice. ”

The planting of white thorn fruit and sea buckthorn under photovoltaic panels well illustrates the "agriculture and photovoltaic complementation" model of "photovoltaic power generation on the board and agricultural production under the board".

"Photovoltaic + sand prevention and control" leads the green future

This area is also a pilot area for the Jinchuan District Forestry and Grassland Bureau to promote "photovoltaic + sand prevention and control".

Zhang Jizhi, director of the District Forestry Technology Extension Station

Digging pits, cultivating soil, planting seedlings, watering, and planting white thorn fruit is very simple. According to Zhang Jizhi, director of the District Forestry Technology Extension Station, the white thorn can not only produce fruits with economic value, but also is a very drought-tolerant sandy shrub, with a very developed root system and a strong ability to fix and block sand, which is mostly seen in fixed sand dunes and sandy lands on the edge of the desert in Jinchang. Compared with the commonly used species in sand fixation afforestation, the white thorn can play a better role in wind prevention and sand fixation.

Planting psammophytes such as white thorns between photovoltaic panels can do a lot in one fell swoop. Ma Yongping, director of the District Forestry and Grassland Bureau, told reporters that on the one hand, it can play an ecological protection role in preventing wind and fixing sand on the desertified land in the Gobi Desert. On the other hand, water resources can be used efficiently, photovoltaic power generation companies clean photovoltaic panels 6 to 10 times a year, and this part of the water resources, together with the rainwater flowing down along the photovoltaic panels, can be used as irrigation water for psammophytes such as white thorn fruit, providing favorable conditions for their growth.

Planting white thorn fruit and sea buckthorn under photovoltaic panels is also a specific measure of "photovoltaic + sand prevention and control", which is an important measure for Jinchuan District to adhere to the unity of economic, ecological and social benefits, and actively explore the "photovoltaic +" development model.

The broad space of "agriculture and photovoltaic complementation".

In the interview, the reporter saw that the photovoltaic panels built in Dongwan Village are generally erected with a base column about 3 meters high, and the space below it leaves enough space for "photovoltaic + agriculture".

Using photovoltaic panels as "roofs" and building small houses, livestock and poultry breeding and edible fungus cultivation can make a big difference, which is the inspiration for the Dongwan Village Agriculture-PV Complementary Demonstration Project.

The demonstration project of agriculture and photovoltaic complementation in Dongwan Village, Ningyuanbao Town, Jinchuan District, will start construction in March 2023. Its core concept is to combine traditional agriculture with photovoltaics, make three-dimensional and efficient use of sunlight and collective resources, and strive to build a complex industry with economic, ecological and social effects.

It is understood that the project will build a demonstration project of 505 acres in advance, and the main construction contents include: 20 new solar greenhouses, 20 edible fungus sheds, a 20,000 cubic meter pond dam, 300 acres of small poultry breeding, edible fungus stick processing workshop, etc., supporting the construction of distributed photovoltaic facilities and equipment on the roof of the shed. The total installed capacity of the photovoltaic project is 18.92 megawatts, and the total estimated investment is 150 million yuan.

At present, the construction of distributed photovoltaic roofs has been completed, and the photovoltaic erection of 20 solar greenhouses and 30 rural households, nursing homes and village committee courtyards has been completed, with an installed capacity of 1,000 kilowatts and 18.92 megawatts of agricultural and photovoltaic complementary access schemes, which have passed the review of provincial and municipal State Grid Companies. In 2024, efforts will be made to build facility agriculture and promote distributed photovoltaic for households in the whole village according to the project plan.

After the completion of the project, it will promote the simultaneous development of agriculture and new energy industries, and gradually form a demonstration base for modern agriculture and light complementation integrating modern agriculture such as edible fungus cutting, characteristic planting, and poultry breeding, so as to further drive the local people to increase their income and become rich, and strengthen the village collective economy.
