On April 22, the release of the Beijing Urban Renewal White Paper and the unveiling ceremony of the Fengtai Urban Renewal Research Institute were held at the Fangzhuang Culture and Art Center in Fengtai District. At the event, the "2023 Beijing Urban Renewal White Paper" was officially released. At the same time, the Fengtai District Urban Renewal Research Institute was formally established, and the first batch of 12 member units, including China Construction First Bureau (Group) Co., Ltd., Beijing Urban Planning and Design Research Institute, and Beijing University of Technology, served as the "external brain" of the government to provide dynamic, three-dimensional and whole-process intellectual support for Fengtai's urban renewal.

It is worth noting that the first rotating chairman unit of Fengtai District Urban Renewal Research Institute, China Construction First Bureau, is the first enterprise to participate in the planning of regional comprehensive urban renewal projects in Fengtai District. "We first began to explore and practice the street-wide renewal model, and carried out consultation, resource research, plan consultation, special planning and project planning and implementation in Fangzhuang Street, Donggaodi Street and various market resources in a market-oriented and open manner, so as to promote the relevant rights holders within the street to recognize the significance of renewal, build the willingness to renewal, and coordinate the project portfolio and implementation. Wu Aiguo, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of China Construction First Bureau, said that in the urban renewal project, it will continue to be aimed at creating a demonstration model of "visible, tangible, replicable and promotable".
The new blueprint depicted by Fengtai District is becoming a reality step by step. Strong function, make up for shortcomings, and show characteristics...... The high-level model of urban renewal is "in full bloom". Strong function, highlighting the vitality of the city. As a demonstration benchmark project for relieving non-capital functions, the relevant person in charge of the South Central Axis International Cultural Science and Technology Park promoted the project at the event. What was once a bustling clothing wholesale market has now been transformed into a high-quality industrial space, and a new landmark of world-class culture and technology and a new highland of digital economy has been built. In addition, there are urban renewal projects such as Jingye Science and Technology Industrial Park, Jingyin International Center, Lize Financial Business District Urban Sports and Leisure Park, and the first nursing home project, making it easier to touch and feel the vitality of the city and the happiness of the people.
Make up for shortcomings and convey the warmth of the city. The Fangzhuang Culture and Art Center, where the event was held, is one of the important achievements of Fengtai's urban renewal, and the urban renewal of Fangzhuang Street is also the city's first regional comprehensive project pilot with the street as a unit. What was once an abandoned restaurant has been transformed into a "Yifang Bookstore", which is aggregated into a public cultural space integrating the Joint Bookstore, an art center, and an experimental theater, stimulating the vitality of the city through "cultural renewal". "Fangzhuang area plans five categories of renewal projects, including comprehensive, residential, facilities, industry, and public space, and promotes the transformation of various old residential areas with property rights in an orderly manner, effectively weaving and repairing the shortcomings of people's livelihood such as culture, sports, and elderly care, revitalizing the stock, and achieving a new breakthrough in embedding limited space into community functions. Zhang Xiaodong, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Fangzhuang Street, said that the entire Fangzhuang area will be "renewed" and make every effort to build a comprehensive renewal demonstration area for large-scale residential areas in the capital in the new era.
Show the characteristics and shape the cityscape. As the first comprehensive urban renewal project in the six districts of the city, the first phase of the start-up area started construction at the end of last year, and it is planned to open the street on the "11th day" this year; Wanping City will be built into a "city of museums", and this year Fengtai District will focus on promoting the comprehensive renovation and upgrading project of Wanping City's historical and cultural blocks, and gradually form an overall style of "gray walls and tiles, red bricks and red tiles".
