On April 20, on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the foundation laying of the National Northwest Agriculture and Forestry College (the predecessor of Northwest A & F University), 1,934 butterflies were released in the Expo Park to congratulate the school on its 90th birthday. It is reported that the Expo Park plans to release a total of 90,000 butterflies this year, in this unique way to bless the 90th anniversary of Xinong University.
At the event, the children opened the box full of butterflies with the host's command. The fluttering butterflies quickly turned the scene into a butterfly paradise. The audience was also pleasantly surprised, taking photos and recording them, dancing with the butterflies, and frolicking.
On April 20, 1934, the National Northwest Agriculture and Forestry College (the predecessor of Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University) was established, which was the earliest higher agriculture and forestry education institution in Northwest China. Since its birth, the school has been closely related to the fate of the country and the nation, sharing weal and woe, and shouldering the historical responsibility of building the northwest, rejuvenating education and agriculture, and cultivating talents. In September 1999, in order to implement the strategy of large-scale development of the western region and promote the overall reform of the science and education system, the CPC Central Committee and the State Council transferred the former Northwest Agricultural University, Northwest Forestry College, Institute of Soil and Water Conservation of the Ministry of Water Resources of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Northwest Institute of Water Conservancy of the Ministry of Water Resources, Shaanxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Shaanxi Academy of Forestry Sciences, and the former Northwest Agricultural University, the Shaanxi Academy of Forestry, and the former Northwest Agricultural University, the Northwest Institute of Water Resources, the Shaanxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Shaanxi Academy of Forestry, and the former Northwest Agricultural University, the Northwest Forestry Institute, the Shaanxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Shaanxi Academy of Forestry, and the former Northwest Agricultural University, the Northwest Institute of Water Resources, Seven scientific and educational units, including the Northwest Institute of Botany of Shaanxi Province and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, were merged to establish Northwest A&F University, which implemented the mechanism of joint construction of ministries, provinces and academies, and entrusted the university with the important mission of supporting and leading the development of modern agriculture in arid and semi-arid areas.
This butterfly release event also marks the launch of the 2024 Butterfly Cultural Season in the Expo Park, which will continue until October, during which butterflies will be released many times, and butterfly online science popularization, butterfly taxidermy production and other activities will be carried out, combining beautiful butterflies with humanities and popular science, helping the quality of popular science tourism with cultural convergence, and creating a butterfly cultural feast.
