Braveheart: Coming Home has finally made its debut on Steam. The sequel to Hearts Braveheart: Great War has been released for over a year, but in all this time, it is still not available to PC players.
This war-themed puzzle adventure game celebrated its first anniversary in late January. At the time, Braveheart: Coming Home was still a Netflix exclusive and was limited to Android and iOS devices. Ubisoft did bring it to Switch and the latest two generations of PlayStation and Xbox consoles, as well as PC, through its own digital storefront in early March 2024.
The fact that this wave of surprises in the Port of Bravehearts: Homecoming ended up skipping Steam doesn't go unnoticed as it's pretty much standard practice for new Ubisoft games today. What's even more surprising is that the Ubisoft Store PC exclusivity period won't be particularly long. Ubisoft already showed this by launching Braveheart: Homecoming's Steam and Epic Games Store pages on April 20.
Although neither of these new listings contains pricing information, Ubisoft generally maintains the same prices across stores. This means that the Steam and EGS versions of Braveheart: Homecoming could retail for $14.99, the same as its Ubisoft store counterpart. While Steam lists it as "coming soon," its Epic Games Store page includes a specific release date: May 24th. Assuming this availability information is accurate, the Steam version may also debut in late May.
Neither storefront mentions Braveheart: The Collection, a bundle that includes two games from the series that Ubisoft launched in early March, as well as a console port of Coming Home. The set retails for $24.99 on the Ubisoft Store in a two-pack and comes with a 16% discount compared to purchasing full-price content separately.
Since 2019, Ubisoft's games have skipped Steam at launch. Most of these games will take years to reach Valve's storefront, and that's only after the company decided to resume selective Steam releases at the end of 2022, after three years of avoiding the platform. In this case, it seems that the ten-week Ubisoft Store exclusivity period for Braveheart: Homecoming now seems rather short. On May 14, Steam even launched its first Ubisoft game in five years, Prince of Persia, which will also be available in Early Access.
