It has been eleven years since I left Xinglong, but I often remember the good times I spent in Xinglong for half a year.
I set off from Shijiazhuang in February 2010 to Xinglong, and I went there to do an internship at the top of Xinglong's primary and secondary schools. There, I interned for nearly half a year.
It was the first time I'd been so far, and certainly the northernmost place I've been to so far.
Xinglong is under the jurisdiction of Chengde City, adjacent to Beijing Miyun and bordered by Zunhua in Tangshan to the east. Xinglong is mountainous, less flat, and the urban area is built along the river, which is relatively narrow and long.
My internship was called Bagualing Township (now it seems to have been merged into Hanglanyu Town), and I worked as a teacher of English and ideological character classes for the second grade at Bagualing Central School. Two months later, the junior high school of the central school was merged into Hanglanyu Middle School, and we went to Hanglanyu Middle School with us.

The people and things I met in Xinglong during my internship will never be forgotten for a long time.
The locals of Xinglong are very enthusiastic and cheerful, and like to eat and drink and play mahjong and poker, which is fun. For those of us who come to the internship, we are also very caring.
Because it is in the township below Xinglong County, the pace of life of everyone is relatively slow. There's not much to do except in school. Male teachers like to play basketball, eat and drink, or play mahjong and poker to kill time.
When we went around the sixteenth day of the first lunar month (the time was too long to remember the exact time), it was still very cold at that time, and I remember that one day the temperature was minus 16 degrees Celsius. It's the lowest temperature I've ever experienced.
In addition to the class, the teachers in our internship are all chatting and talking together. On weekends, when students are on vacation, we just get together to cook and buy, and the latter goes out to climb the mountain together. I remember once, around April in the spring, the weather turned warmer, so we went to climb the Great Wall together.
Due to the disrepair of the Wild Great Wall, many places have collapsed, and many places have openings. The Wild Great Wall is different from the well-known Badaling Great Wall, and many of them are piled up with rocks.
There is a mountain not far from where the school is located. In the spring we go digging wild vegetables, which are called bitter hemp vegetables, as if it were. We didn't know each other, it was a home intern together in Zunhua that the classmates told us how to tell. It is said that this wild vegetable can clear heat and detoxify. We were a group of four or five people that day, digging up a lot of wild vegetables. Eat it with watercress sauce at noon, which is very refreshing.

There were six of us interning together, plus a female classmate from a certain university in Tangshan (it should be too long to remember), a total of seven people, and two young male teachers, we interned, attended classes, cooked, and played together, which was very comfortable.
Later, the school moved to Hanglanyu, and there were several classmates from their alma mater, added together, a total of nine people (the specifics are not very clear, too long to remember very clearly).
The summer is booming and cool. Except for the occasional little heat at noon, it is very cool at other times. Especially in the middle of the night, you have to cover a thin quilt.

And the sky was blue, there was no smog, the air was extremely fresh, and there were no mosquitoes. The cooking aunt and sister invited by the school are particularly good at craftsmanship, whether it is stir-fry, pie, buns, brine noodles, even if it is cooked instant noodles, they all feel fragrant.
The half year of internship in Xinglong is simply not too comfortable. So, in two months, I grew nearly ten pounds of meat. Even the counselor came to see us and said that my face had turned round.
Now that it has been ten years since graduating from college, I don't know how the classmates and teachers at the school who interned together are now, I really miss them.
