China's Ordinary National Road Series——No.127· G509 Tangtong Line

author:Jiangbei Tianchen

By the end of 2023, there are 200 ordinary national highways in the mainland, with a total mileage of more than 265,000 kilometers, and the dense network of ordinary national highways will closely connect various cities in the mainland, just like the capillaries of the human body, ensuring the efficient, fast and convenient circulation of people and materials between various cities in the mainland, and playing an irreplaceable and important role in promoting the development of the mainland's economy.

The two road network systems of ordinary national roads and national highways constitute the national roads of the mainland, both of which start with the letter G. Ordinary national highways are generally numbered in the form of G+3 Arabic numerals (i.e. GXXX) and are pronounced as XXX national highways (e.g., G318 is pronounced as 318 national highways).

This series will focus on China's ordinary national roads, and introduce them in detail from three aspects: basic information, provinces and cities passed, and value significance. At present, the mainland plans to build a total of 200 ordinary national highways. These 200 ordinary national roads are divided into four categories: 12 capital radiation lines, 47 north-south longitudinal lines, 60 east-west horizontal lines, and 81 liaison lines.

In this issue, we will introduce: G509 Jingtang Port - Tongzhou Ordinary National Highway [Tangtong Line]

Value significance

The Tangtong Line starts in Leting County, Tangshan City, Hebei Province, and ends in Tongzhou District, Beijing. This ordinary national highway is an important national passage connecting Hebei Province and Beijing City, building a transportation artery for important cities in the east-west direction of the Gyeonggi region (mainly including Tangshan, Tianjin, Langfang, Beijing, etc.), and building a bridge connecting the east-west direction of the Gyeonggi area. At the same time, Tangshan (Jingtang Port) can not only communicate Tongzhou through the Tangtong Line, but also can quickly transfer through other ordinary national roads in the Tongzhou area, and travel to the rest of the country at high speed and efficiently, which plays a vital role in strengthening the communication between Tangshan (Jingtang Port) and Tongzhou and even the rest of the country.
