According to the forecast of the meteorological and hydrological department, the heavy rainfall process in the central and eastern parts of the basin will continue, the water level of the Beijiang River will continue to rise and may develop into a major flood, and the risk of geological disasters such as small and medium-sized river floods and mountain floods is extremely high, and the flood control situation in the basin is severe and complex.

In accordance with the relevant provisions of the "Emergency Plan for Flood Prevention and Drought Relief of the Pearl River Flood Control and Drought Relief General Headquarters", the Pearl River Flood Control General decided to upgrade the flood control level III emergency response to level II at 8 o'clock on April 21, and the Pearl River Committee simultaneously upgraded the flood prevention level III emergency response to level II.
In addition, the Guangxi Hydrological Center also continued to issue a blue warning for flooding this morning.
The heavy rainfall in South China is as follows: the duration is long - heavy rain and heavy rain have been falling for three or four consecutive days; the rainfall is extreme - the cumulative rainfall in central and northern Guangdong has broken the record of the same period in a large area; the characteristics of strong convection are prominent: short-term heavy rainfall with hourly rainfall exceeding 50 mm occurs frequently, accompanied by large-scale thunderstorms and windy weather.
From the perspective of rainfall accumulation, Guangdong Shaoguan, Fogang, Yingde and other stations have broken the record of the total rainfall in April in advance, and as the rainfall continues to develop, there will be more places in central and northern Guangdong to refresh the April record. Perennially, with the outbreak of the monsoon, often May and June are the strongest rainfall periods in South China, such as Guangdong, Guangxi and other places just opened this year's flood season, and it is rare to experience such a "violent" dragon boat water in advance.
The good news is that as the cold air moves southward, the rainfall area will shrink to the south, and the current round of extreme rainfall in South China will briefly converge in the next two days (22-23), and the heavy rainfall area will shrink to the southeast coast.
What needs to be paid attention to is that the day after tomorrow, the coastal areas of Guangdong and Fujian should still be vigilant against short-term heavy rainfall and hailstorms.
After a short period of weakening, starting on the 24th, the rainfall will develop again, and until the end of the month, there will be two rounds of significant precipitation processes in Jiangnan, South China and other places, among which the rainfall in Guangdong and other places will develop and intensify, and the heavy rainfall area is close to the previous period.
Looking forward to the precipitation in the later period, South China is still the core area of heavy rainfall, especially in the central and northern parts of Guangdong, southern Jiangxi, Fujian and other places in the next few days, the heavy rainfall areas are highly overlapped with the previous heavy rainfall, and the rainfall superposition effect is obvious, so it is necessary to be highly vigilant against the risks of flash floods, geological disasters, small and medium-sized river floods, urban waterlogging and low-lying farmland wet floods.
