[Text/Caiquan Society& Brother Dao said car Li Yaxuan] "People and cars drive together, if both sides can cooperate well, it will definitely be safer than driving alone or driving alone." Li Bin, founder, chairman and CEO of NIO, said, "It turns out that everyone is doing unmanned driving, and 'manned' driving is actually not very serious. We will make human-car co-driving a very important area of research, because we are essentially trying to free up energy and reduce accidents, not to rob taxi drivers of their jobs. ”

On April 20, NIO's intelligent driving conference with the theme of "full domain" was held in Beijing. At the press conference, NIO announced that the NOP+ urban area function will be fully pushed to users of NIO's Banyan Banyan intelligent system from April 30. This marks that the intelligent driving system with the largest number of users, the widest range of verification and the longest available road mileage in the country is about to serve users.

At the same time as the release of the global navigation assistance NOP+, NIO also announced the launch of the "Intelligent Driving Points" system and established a standard for measuring the safety and usability of intelligent driving. By 2025, NIO's goal is to account for 80% of the time spent on intelligent driving, which is 10 times safer than human driving, and truly promotes the realization of the ultimate vision of intelligent driving that "liberates energy and reduces accidents".

The strongest hardware and software architecture

With 33 high-performance sensing hardware, the Aquila Super Sensing System has defined a new standard for intelligent driving perception systems for global production vehicles, and is the most comprehensive performance perception system to date.

With a total computing power of 1,016 TOPS, the ADAM central computing platform still maintains the world's highest computing power for a single vehicle, and can process the signal input of the Aquila Super Sensing System and other vehicle systems to meet the swarm learning and distributed verification computing power requirements of the swarm intelligence system.

NIO's intelligent driving system can cover all application scenarios, with general generalization capabilities as the foundation and unified algorithm architecture as the key. To this end, NIO has innovatively created the NADArch intelligent driving architecture, which includes advanced algorithm model applications such as Lane 2.0 perception network, NADCloudM, and NADHVH.

Among the above-mentioned advanced algorithm models, Lane 2.0 can support real-time perception of traffic at intersections in urban scenarios, NADCloudM can improve perception capabilities with the help of stronger large models in the cloud, and NADHVN can make the global navigation assistance NOP+ have more delicate interaction capabilities through a full data-driven planning network.

Each NIO NT2.0 platform model has a swarm intelligence and personalized training chip with a computing power of up to 254TOPS, relying on a mass production fleet of more than 200,000 vehicles, forming an intelligent fleet with a total computing power of 230.29EOPS.

NIO's swarm intelligence architecture based on intelligent fleets can distributedly verify the roads traveled by users and the intelligent driving functions used by users in production vehicles. The monthly mileage of actual vehicle verification exceeds 20 million kilometers, and a single route is automatically approved for 5 verifications, accelerating the upgrade and iteration of the intelligent driving system and ensuring the continuous evolution of the functional experience of intelligent driving users.

The largest number of intelligent driving users in urban areas

From April 30, 2024, with the upgrade of Banyan Banyan Intelligent System version 2.6.0, the global pilot assistance NOP+ urban function will be fully pushed to nearly 230,000 users of the system. This is also the largest urban intelligent driving push in China so far.

The all-domain navigation assistance NOP+ can complete intelligent driving in urban areas, highways, battery swaps and other use scenarios.

In September 2023, Ren Shaoqing, Vice President of Intelligent Driving R&D at NIO, announced at the "NIO Innovation Technology Day" that the delivery of urban pilot assistance NOP+ will start by route opening, route sharing, and convergence network. So far, NIO's intelligent driving has entered urban areas from high speeds, covering the whole range of application scenarios.

In scenarios such as highways and urban expressways, NOP+ can complete a series of driving tasks such as autonomous speed regulation, independent selection of optimal lanes, overtaking slow vehicles, construction detours, active offset of large vehicles, and entering and exiting ramps according to navigation routes.

In urban road use scenarios, in addition to completing autonomous speed regulation, independent selection of the optimal lane, and overtaking slow vehicles, this function also supports traffic light recognition and start and stop, as well as following the navigation route to independently complete left turns, right turns and U-turns at intersections, detour temporary parking vehicles, two-wheeled vehicles and construction scenarios and other extreme scenarios to achieve defensive driving, and can also complete driving tasks such as leaving the bus lane according to the traffic restriction time.

Widest range of validations available

Intelligent driving needs to solve a series of long-tail problems caused by complex roads. In order to ensure the high safety and high availability of intelligent driving, NIO verifies every road, finds problems in a timely manner, and learns to solve them in a targeted manner. Activate after optimization and continue to operate.

As of the date of the press conference, NIO has carried out full road verification of the global navigation assistance NOP+, with a total of 1,207,977 kilometers of global road verification, covering 726 cities, including 360,000 kilometers of expressways and urban expressways, and 847,000 kilometers of urban roads.

From the release of Banyan Banyan 2.2.0 on October 27 last year to the push update of Banyan Banyan 2.4.5 on March 28 this year, NIO has completed a total of 4 system iterations in five months, and its general capabilities have continued to improve. The full push time node of NOP+ for global pilot assistance was also realized two months earlier than the June 30, 2024 announced at last year's "NIO Innovation and Technology Day".

Open a new era of co-driving

At the press conference, NIO also launched the Intelligent Driving Availability Index and Safety Index to measure the availability and safety of intelligent driving systems.

As the world's leading brand of high-end smart electric vehicles, NIO's ultimate vision for intelligent driving is to "liberate energy and reduce accidents", and the intelligent driving system aims to empower users' driving skills, not replace relationships. This time, NIO's global pilot-assisted NOP+ full push also marks the beginning of a new era of "people-vehicle co-driving".

NIO has combined in-cabin face gaze detection and extra-cabin perception systems to create the industry's most accurate human-vehicle co-driving safety model, ADMS, which realizes driving scene recognition, driver intention prediction, attention recognition, and multi-mode information fusion, and increases the effective warning rate of risk scenarios by 3.5 times, further avoiding accidents.

In addition, NIO has also launched a driver safety behavior guidance mechanism, "Intelligent Driving Points", which mainly evaluates the human-vehicle co-driving behavior in the past 30 intelligent driving days from three aspects: focusing on safe driving, reasonably completing the system takeover response, and accumulating good driving experience (100 kilometers of intelligent driving mileage for new users). By changing the score, the driver can pay attention to and continuously ensure that he or she is driving correctly.

As of April 19, NIO users have accumulated 899 million kilometers of intelligent driving, from 18 million kilometers in the fourth quarter of 2020 to 1.92 kilometers in the first quarter of 2024. In addition, the average daily per capita use of Global Pilot Assist NOP+ is 36 minutes, and the scale of Global Pilot Assist NOP+ urban experience users has gradually expanded to 20,000 experience users.

"This is the user's actual use of their own to prove that NIO has brought value to them. Li Bin said, "Intelligent driving only really functional, only really good experience, users will be willing to use, this is actually the most important standard." Especially now that there are all kinds of arguments in the industry, we still have to return to the essence. ”
