Recently, a group of teaser pictures of the new "square box" SUV of Jietu have been exposed on the Internet, the car may be named Jietu Shanhai T1, which can be regarded as the production version of the previously exposed Shanhai T-L concept car, which will be equipped with a plug-in hybrid system composed of 1.5TGDI hybrid special engine + electric motor + 1DHT, and the four-wheel drive system should not be absent.
After exposing the teaser picture, it was found that Shanhai T1 and Shanhai T-L concept car only have differences in details, the main difference is that the upper grille is modified to a dot matrix square grating, and the car logo has been moved from the nose to the front center of the hood, with the four-point daytime running light groups on both sides of the grille, which has a better sense of science and technology. There are no changes to the front bumper, and the hard-core guard plate and independent fog lamp cluster will carry the hard-core to the end.
The side of the car is the standard "square box" shape, with a straight roof transition that meets the parallelogram D-pillar, and a slight upward movement of the rear window, highlighting the unique design sense of the Jietu brand. The car's front and rear fenders have additional bulges, which, together with the wide black wheel arches and high ground clearance, once again reflect the hardcore design. In addition, the new car uses traditional door handles and the roof is equipped with an original luggage rack, which has good practicality.
At the rear, the roof offers a small spoiler and high-mounted brake lights, and the tail light clusters are quadrangular on both sides of the tailgate, with a four-point light source in the lamp cavity that echoes the headlight clusters. The tailgate adopts a regular upper door, and the "small bag" shape is not equipped, showing a different positioning from the traveler, and the rear bumper section highlights the bodywork, drawing off the hard-core design.
Earlier this year, Chery held a brand launch event in Russia to reveal the dimensions of the car and when it will be available. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the vehicle are 4705/1967/1837mm, and the wheelbase is 2800mm, which has the market positioning of a compact SUV. The gasoline version will be launched in the first quarter of 2025, while the plug-in hybrid version will not be available until the fourth quarter of 2025. However, this is only the time for the Russian market to be launched, and the domestic market should be brought forward, and it is expected to be officially launched in the fourth quarter of this year.
In terms of power, the petrol version is undoubtedly a 1.5TGDI or 1.6TGDI engine. The plug-in hybrid version will be equipped with Chery Kunpeng super hybrid C-DM technology, which consists of a 1.5TGDI hybrid engine + electric motor + 1DHT gearbox.
Compared with models such as Jet Traveler and Shanhai T2, Shanhai T1 has a lower positioning, focusing more on family travel rather than off-road travel, which can be regarded as a "youth version" of Traveler or Shanhai T2, and the benchmark model is a square box SUV that focuses on urban travel such as Haval Big Dog.
