At half past two in the afternoon, deep in the silent mountains, a class bell rang, and Tan Chengbin walked into the classroom quickly.
"Go to class, stand up!"
"Hello teacher!"
The three rows of students stood up, and the difference in size was quite large because they belonged to three different grades.
"Please take a seat!" Tan Chengbin opened the three textbooks on the podium in turn, "Sixth-grade students learn the circumference of a circle today, fifth-grade students learn to use letters to represent numbers today, and third-grade students learn multiplication today. In the sixth grade, the other two grades prepare for the lessons. Tan Chengbin broke the teaching time into three petals.

In this mountain village primary school surrounded by mountains, Tan Chengbin has been sticking to it for 38 years. In the early days, some of the students living on the mountains in the reservoir area had difficulty traveling, so he rowed a small wooden boat to bring the students to school one by one. "Some students live far away, and it takes more than five hours to make a round trip. I left school at noon on Sunday and got back to school when it was dark. Tan Chengbin said that a few years ago, 11 students moved to the vicinity of the school, and there was no need to go to and from school. With the support of relevant departments, the infrastructure such as campuses and classrooms has also taken on a new look.

The conditions were good, but Tan Chengbin didn't let himself relax. After class, I corrected my homework, and it was half past four in the afternoon. Unable to take a break, he hurried to the kitchen opposite the school building, put on an apron, washed his hands, and cooked for the children. The kitchen refrigerator is full of meat, eggs, tomatoes and other ingredients. "These are bought from outside the mountain by workers who bring them back to the reservoir area and are sent in twice a week. When the babies are growing up, nutrition must be guaranteed. Tan Chengbin said, took out the cut vegetables with his hands, turned on the gas stove, heated the pan, and put oil. After a while, dishes were put on the table. After dinner, it was already dark, Tan Chengbin returned to the classroom, watched the students do their homework, and then led them back to the dormitory to rest.

In the eyes of young teachers, the school is like a home, Tan Chengbin is a parent, and he worries about big and small things. In recent years, the state has given great support to rural education, and the school has more young teachers, and Tan Chengbin has also worked hard to provide them with better conditions. After learning about the situation, several graduates who had previously taught by Tan Chengbin discussed with him and set up a foundation to subsidize 400 yuan per month for each of the young teachers who came here.
"Before we came, Principal Tan bought us a lot of new daily necessities. In the dormitory, Ren Anqi, a young teacher who had just joined the company in the first half of this year, pointed to the brand-new bed, quilt, and wardrobe and said with a smile.

Late at night, after confirming that the students had fallen asleep, Tan Chengbin returned to his home near the school. His wife, Yu Hongqin, said: "He lives at the school a lot of the time, and I know that he treats his students as his dolls. ”
These "dolls" did not live up to Tan Chengbin. Among the students he has led, more than 180 have been admitted to universities, some have become pilots, some have become scientific researchers, and some have become people's teachers like him.

In a few years, Tan Chengbin will retire. Over the years, Tan Chengbin has had many opportunities to go out of the mountains to teach in urban schools, but he resolutely chose to stay in the mountains. "How many party members have not all stuck to their ordinary posts and done extraordinary things? From the day I joined the party at the age of 29, I decided to stick to my post like them. He said, "The students who have come out of the mountains have already seen the world for me." As long as there are students, I'm going to stay here. ”
In the fourth quarter of 2023, Tan Chengbin was selected into the "China Good Person List".
