Recently, the 12th Foshan City Blind Poetry and Prose Recitation Final and the 10th Blind Prose Writing Contest Award Ceremony was held in the lecture hall on the first floor of Foshan Library.

The event was hosted by the Foshan Disabled Persons' Federation and the Foshan Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports, organized by the Foshan Library, the Foshan Association for the Blind, and the Optometry Center of Foshan Fosun Chancheng Hospital, and co-organized by the Disabled Persons' Federations of various districts, the Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureaus of various districts, the Foshan Qicong School, and the Guangdong Lions Club.

Since 2013, Foshan Library has carried out the Foshan Division of Guangdong Poetry and Prose Recitation for the Blind and the Blind Prose Creation Competition, which has been held for 12 consecutive sessions. After two months of preparatory work, a total of 44 recitations and 36 prose works were received from the five districts of Foshan and special education schools this year. At the finals, 18 groups of recitation contestants who had been selected and trained came to the scene to recite on stage. On the stage, whether it is the adult group or the youth group, the contestants are passionately engaged. Off the stage, the audience was cheering for the contestants, applauding and cheering. After fierce competition, Guan Huiyi from Nanhai District and Luo Zixuan and Gui Yuanyuan from Foshan Qicong School won the first prize in the adult group and youth group of the recitation competition respectively.

The award ceremony of the 10th Blind Prose Writing Competition was also held at the scene. Wei Xiangdong's work "Spring Girl" in Chancheng District, starting from the commonplace little things in life, is written eloquently, eulogizing the sublime truth, goodness and beauty of human nature, natural, warm and touching, and it is a masterpiece worth recalling repeatedly. Wu Shuangxin's work "Dreams Bloom in the Times" starts from the rescue of the People's Liberation Army in the earthquake to the theme of dreams, linking personal dreams with the spirit of the times, with far-reaching ideas, clear narratives, full of emotions and power. They won the first prize in the adult group and the youth group of this essay writing competition.

The "12th Foshan Poetry and Prose Recitation for the Blind and the 10th Blind Prose Writing Competition" Outstanding Organization Award was awarded to Shunde Daliang Yixin Volunteer Association, Foshan Hengren Social Work Service Center, and Foshan Qideaf School.

The winners of this competition will represent Foshan in the provincial finals. Cai Gan, deputy director of Foshan Library, said that organizing activities such as poetry and prose recitation and prose creation competitions for the blind is an effective measure for Foshan Library to promote the implementation of the whole life reading concept of "age, focus, stratification and time-sharing", which is conducive to promoting the equal participation of the whole people in library activities, enhancing the cultural happiness and sense of gain of special groups, and helping to build a high-quality and balanced modern public cultural service system. In the future, we will fully meet the growing cultural needs of special groups in Foshan, strengthen team building and management, attach importance to resource construction and sharing, innovate service methods and means, improve service effectiveness and quality, create a "reading and warmth" cultural service brand for special groups in the city, and strive to promote the high-quality development of special group services.
