Shelby American has unveiled the 2024 Ford Mustang Shelby Super Snake, which is based on the latest pony from Ford's next-generation S650 platform and features a series of performance-focused upgrades, including an available 830-horsepower supercharged V-8 engine. By partnering with Ford Motor Company, Whipple, and other top companies, the Las Vegas team has created the strongest and best Shelby Super Snake in history to date.
The 2024 Super Snake is available in two engines: the naturally aspirated 5.0-liter Coyote V-8 with 480 horsepower, or the Whipple supercharged version of this engine with 830 horsepower. Whichever one was chosen, Shelby gave the Super Snake a different suspension for "faster cornering", a free-flowing Borla exhaust, stronger braking and better cooling to "unleash the powertrain's potential". With the available six-speed manual gearbox, you also get a short-range shifter and a one-piece driveshaft.
The 2024 Super Snake's exterior upgrade matches the wild drivetrain, with the biggest highlight being the lightweight 20-inch forged magnesium alloy wheels. The lightweight doesn't stop there, the Super Snake has its own specific aluminum hood, carbon fiber widebody front fenders, bumper, grille, side rocker, and lower diffuser. Opt for a hardtop fastback style and you can also get a large carbon fibre rear wing. If you opt for the convertible version, it comes with a more subtle ducktail spoiler.
Inside, there are some Shelby-specific trims, including embroidered seats, embroidered floor mats, Super Snake-themed welcome lights, Super Snake door sills and a serialized instrument panel, as well as a Shelby-branded speed ball joystick.
Shelby American has yet to announce pricing for the 2024 Super Snake, but says production will begin in the summer. The company only plans to produce a limited number of 250 Super Snakes this year, and for added peace of mind to customers, each 2024 Super Snake comes with a 3-year/58,000 km warranty, and the original Ford powertrain warranty policy remains unchanged.
