On the occasion of the 29th "World Book Day", on April 20, the launching ceremony of the 2024 Haidian District National Reading Season was held in Wukesong Wanda Plaza, Beijing. The key activities of this year's National Reading Season were officially released at the launching ceremony.
The launching ceremony was guided by the Propaganda Department of the Haidian District Party Committee, hosted by the Haidian District Culture and Tourism Bureau, and undertaken by the Haidian District Library of Beijing. This year's National Reading Season will last until August after its launch today, including more than 600 activities in four major sections: "Times Chapter", "Mountain Appreciation and Garden", "Reading and Enjoying Childhood" and "Reading Star Action".
The whole National Reading Season focuses on excellent traditional culture, red culture and innovative culture, focusing on the three mountains and five parks, the road to Beijing to catch the examination, and the spirit of Zhongguancun, etc., paying more attention to the excavation, interpretation and promotion of cultural connotations, and highlighting the characteristics of Haidian; the activities cover lectures, exhibitions, reading clubs, famous salons, classic recitations, creative reading experiences, etc., paying more attention to the reader's perspective and highlighting the on-site experience; the activities coordinate the resources of institutions, enterprises, social groups, etc., and pay more attention to the combination of culture, tourism, business and sports, and highlight the integrated development.
At the ceremony, Haidian District donated more than 6,000 books to the Right Front Banner of Xing'an Mengke in Inner Mongolia and Luzhou District of Changzhi City, Shanxi Province. In recent years, Haidian District has launched a book fundraising public welfare action of "Sailing with Love, Passing on the Fragrance of Books" to all walks of life, calling on readers and friends to donate idle books at home to those in need. A total of more than 100,000 books have been donated to readers in Haixi Prefecture, Qinghai, Aohanqi, Keyouqianqi and other regions, so that books can be recycled and knowledge and love can be passed on on a wider scale.
The venue also prepared a variety of activities for citizens and friends, such as the "Old Books and New Knowledge" book exchange collection, the "Life is Cute, Not Perfect" dialogue salon, cultural and creative market, intangible cultural heritage experience, stamp check-in, etc., which attracted thousands of people to participate.
In recent years, Haidian District attaches great importance to the work of national reading, and the National Reading Season has been held for 13 consecutive sessions, establishing a set of long-term mechanism for national reading with Haidian characteristics, and achieving many exemplary results in the construction of public culture and the promotion of reading. It is reported that Haidian District will continue to give full play to the advantages of profound historical and cultural accumulation, highly educated and high-quality talents, dig deep into the cultural connotation, highlight the characteristics of Haidian, and provide high-quality public cultural products to meet the people's new expectations for a better life, and strive to build a three-dimensional, diverse, distinctive reading service system, and comprehensively build a "scholarly Haidian", forming a strong atmosphere of loving reading, reading good books, and being good at reading.
