On April 19, the 2024 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Table Tennis Singles World Cup held the men's and women's singles 1/4 finals at the Galaxy Arena in Macau, China.
In the men's singles, Ma Long fell behind twice in the opening game, and finally defeated Japan's Hayasuke Togami 4-2, with the scores of 5-11, 11-5, 7-11, 11-7, 11-3, 11-3 in six games. Fan Zhendong ushered in the team for the second day in a row, Lin Gaoyuan defeated Fan Zhendong 4-2 to advance to the semifinals, with the scores of 11-7, 6-11, 11-7, 6-11, 12-10 and 11-7 in six games. Wang Chuqin, who came out in the last game, defeated South Korea's Jang Woo-jin 4-1 to score 11-6, 11-4, 11-2, 9-11 and 11-5 in five games.
In Women's Singles, Chen Meng faced Japan's Miu Hirano and won 4-0 in straight games, 11-5, 11-8, 11-9 and 11-6. Wang Manyu defeated Japan's Hina Hayada 4-1 in five games, 11-8, 11-7, 8-11, 11-6 and 11-8. Sun Yingsha, who played last, defeated Chinese Taipei's Zheng Yijing 4-2, 11-5, 11-2, 9-11, 11-7, 10-12 and 11-5 in six games.
In the two quarter-finals contested by foreign association players, Tomokazu Haramoto defeated Sweden's Anton Carlberg 4-2, and his sister Changmoto Miwa defeated Puerto Rico's Adriana Diaz 4-1, and the siblings reached the semi-finals of the men's and women's singles. The semi-finals of the men's and women's singles at this World Cup have formed a situation of three Chinese players and one Japanese player.
