On the morning of the 13th, the Sichuan-Tibet Line Interview Team of China Tibet Network traveled from Ganzi County to Derge County along National Highway 317, and heavy snow fell in the sky. The mountains on both sides of the road have turned white, the Yalong River flows through the mountains, and yaks are looking for grass under the snow at the foot of the mountain. From a distance, you can taste the charm of ink landscape painting.

Due to heavy snowfall, our interview van stopped several times to wait in line for passage. Finally, at noon, I crossed the Qi'ershan Tunnel and arrived at the Zhang Fulin Martyrs Memorial Hall located next to the Qiershan Tunnel on National Highway 317 in Dege County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province.

The leader of the interview team, Mr. Aung Weng Lob, who had walked the Qi'er Mountain section of the road many times, pointed to the halfway up the mountain on the side of the memorial hall and said: "You see, that is the Qi'er Mountain road built by the martyr Zhang Fulin that we interviewed today, which is difficult to pass under heavy snowy weather conditions. Thanks to the construction of the Qi'er Mountain Tunnel, we were able to come here on time for the interview today. "When I looked at the mountainside, I couldn't open my eyes to the snow-covered Qi'er Mountain, and it was hard to imagine how Zhang Fulin and other comrades could complete the road construction task in such an environment.

The memorial hall has been open to the public since August 2021. The temperature inside the memorial hall has been cooled by the heavy snow outside, but the exhibits tell the story of Zhang Fulin's short and hot life. In October 1926, Zhang Fulin was born in a poor peasant family in Fugou County, Henan Province. Three generations of his ancestors and grandchildren have worked in the landlord's house, and his life has been oppressed, but he has also developed a character that is not afraid of violence.

After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, Zhang Fulin's parents joined the revolution one after another. In 1947, Zhang Fulin's mother, Xue Guifang, exposed herself to cover the transfer of the underground party and was persecuted by the Kuomintang. In 1948, Zhang Fulin inherited his mother's will to join the army. He worked hard to kill the enemy, actively studied military technology, and participated in more than 20 battles in Taiyuan, Qinling, Chengdu, and other large and small battles, and was awarded two first-class merits, two second-class merits, and three third-class merits.

In 1950, Zhang Fulin was assigned to the road construction unit of the 18th Army to undertake the task of building the Kang-Tibet Highway, and the 3rd Company and 60th Artillery Squad of the 159th Regiment of the 53rd Division were mainly responsible for road construction and blasting. You must know that Zhang Fulin was originally a heroic machine gunner, he was organized as an artilleryman, and then from an artillery to an engineer, every time he started from scratch in the face of a completely new field, but he had no complaints.

During the construction of the road in Qi'er Mountain, Zhang Fulin and his comrades-in-arms hung on the rock wall during the day to shoot cannon holes, and at night went to the construction site to study the techniques of drilling, charging, and firing guns of various stones such as solid stones, solitary stones, loose stones, and flake stones, and actively learned from engineering personnel, technical comrades, and engineering units, and finally proposed a method for improving the charge, that is, the "enlargement cannon method". The blasting effect of the "amplification cannon method" exceeds the national standard by 260 times, creating the highest blasting record in the country. This method can not only improve work efficiency, but also save explosives, and has been popularized in the road construction troops, and Zhang Fulin is also known as the "gunner".

On December 10, 1951, Zhang Fulin was crushed by a falling boulder on his waist and legs while performing a blasting mission, and by the time his comrades arrived, he was already dying. When the hygienist injected him with a cardiotonic agent, he pushed it away with his hand and said, "He can't do it, let's save one for the country," and at the same time urged everyone to hurry up and get to work without delaying work.

Martyr Zhang Fulin was not afraid of hardships, actively studied and overcame difficulties, and laid an important foundation for opening up the Qi'er Mountain section of the highway and the opening of Qamdo on the Sichuan-Tibet line, which is a vivid and touching embodiment of the spirit of "two roads". Comrade Zhang Fulin was posthumously awarded the title of Model Communist Party Member and posthumously recorded first-class meritorious service. In 1953, the Ministry of Communications posthumously awarded him the title of "Road Construction Hero", and named the model class in which he was in during his lifetime "Zhang Fulin Class".

As General Secretary Xi said: "Every generation has its own Long March, and every generation must take its own Long March." The comrades of the previous Zhang Fulin class have climbed snow-capped mountains and waded through ice water, and have gone to various parts of Tibet to participate in construction, fighting on the front line of promoting the common prosperity of compatriots of all ethnic groups in Tibet. At present, the comrades of the "Zhang Fulin Class" are still stationed at the 3197 outpost in Shannan Prefecture, Tibet, inheriting and carrying forward the two-way spirit of "not being afraid of hardship and death, fighting tenaciously and being willing to be a roadstone, the army and the people are one family, and the unity of the nation" is striving to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
