On April 19th, the special event of the 10th anniversary of Sinan Reading Club and the launching ceremony of the "Scholarly Shanghai" subway reading promotion activity were held in Sinan Literature House. As the host Zilong said, the theme of the first reading club ten years ago, "Let the Past Tell the Future", was like a prophecy, and we are already standing in the "future".
The clock is set back to the spring of 2014. After retirement, Xu Shujian, who often passed by the Sinan Mansion, was left under the eaves of the Sinan Literary House by a sudden rain. What is being held indoors is a poetry reading session of Szymboska's "I Have Been Lonely Like This" from the Sinan Reading Club. Xu Shujian, who is not "cold" to poetry, was attracted by the wonderful sharing of the guests, and accidentally listened to the audience. Since then, he has become a loyal reader of this regular weekly Sinan reading club, as long as conditions permit. That's ten years.
Sinan's reading club, which has accompanied him and many readers through ten years of life, is now celebrating its tenth birthday.
At the event, the ten-year development report of Sinan Reading Club written by Shi Chenlu and Luo Xin was released. According to the report, in the past ten years, as the reading club with the highest number of "promises", Sinan Reading Club has held 452 activities, invited 1,700 writers, scholars and other guests, including 6 Nobel Prize winners and 11 Mao Dun Literature Award winners, with a total of more than 80,000 readers, and the social response has been extremely enthusiastic. "In ten years, all the people who participated in the Sinan Reading Club have formed a close community of Sinan reading culture. Shi Chenlu said.
In addition, Sinan Reading Club has successively won the "2018 Top Ten Promoting Institutions for National Reading" jointly issued by the China National Reading Annual Conference and the China Academy of Journalism, the "2019 National Reading Excellent Project" issued by the General Administration of Press and Publication, the nomination award of the top ten brands of Shanghai culture, the "Bohong Book Award and Organization Award" and other awards, and went abroad in 2019 to appear at the 71st Frankfurt International Book Fair. At the Shanghai Cultural Brand Conference held yesterday, Sinan Reading Club was selected as the most influential case of the "Shanghai Culture" brand and the most popular case among the citizens. It can be said that with literature as a footnote, the influence of Sinan Reading Club has spread from Shanghai to the whole country and even overseas, creating a veritable and dazzling Shanghai cultural business card. Here, literature is not only a noun that radiates light and heat, but also a "verb" that constantly renews itself and has a long-term development momentum.

In February 2014, the Sinan Reading Club, sponsored by the Shanghai Press and Publication Bureau, the Shanghai Writers Association, the Propaganda Department of the Shanghai Huangpu District Committee of the Communist Party of China, and the Sinan Mansion, was born at No. 505 Fuxing Middle Road. The initial planning team was led by writer Sun Ganlu, vice chairman of the Shanghai Writers Association, and members also included Li Weichang, then deputy director of the Shanghai Writers Association, Peng Lun, publisher, and Shi Jianfeng, media person, who participated in content planning, pre-preview, material collation and guest liaison. Later, novelist Wang Ruoxu also joined the planning team.
The first dialogue brought by writers Sun Hao and Wang Anyi attracted nearly 200 readers. Prepared chairs were filled, and the aisles were packed with readers. There was no room for the door, and there were people sitting on the floor outside the door, listening to the two-hour activity. At the Sinan book collection held at the same time outside the venue, more than 400 autographed books by the author were snatched up by readers. This event set the tone for the Sinan Reading Club, and as Sun Ganlu once said, because I met the reading club by chance, there were many readers who came in to take a look and listen casually. Many of them have only passed by once, and may not appear again, but this "chance encounter" will spread far away like a seed, and you can never imagine where it might take root and what kind of flower it will bloom.

In the years that followed, Sinan Reading Club welcomed many well-known writers, and was also regarded by many writers as the "first scene" to communicate with readers. Naipaul, Le Clézio, Alekseevich, Peter Handke, Abdelrazak Gurnah, Mo Yan, A Lai, Jia Pingwa, Zhang Wei, Bi Feiyu, Ge Fei, Jin Yucheng, Xu Zechen, Liu Liangcheng...... Their fate with the Sinan Reading Club has also formed a flowing literary and ideological feast. A reader surnamed Li, who has participated in the Sinan Reading Club many times, sighed: "The names that can only be seen on the bookshelf before have all cordially walked up to you and told you what a moving moment this is, what a precious memory!"
Precious memories come not only from the writer's conversation with the readers, but also from the readers' spontaneous maintenance and support. At the beginning of 2015, the Sinan Reading Club selected six honorary readers of the year, including Xu Shujian, and formed this selection into the practice of the Sinan Reading Club. Readers who have never known each other established the "Sinan Reading Family" WeChat group, which gradually condensed into a group with reading as the centripetal force. From the spontaneous recording and sharing of the content of the reading club at the beginning, to the gradual formation of preview reading materials, writing and editing of notes, photo shooting and selection, integrated typesetting and external release...... This "Sinan Reader's Notebook", which is still going on today, has been participated by 25 readers, and a total of 20 million words have been written, which can be said to be unique in the country. On the occasion of the 10th anniversary special event, reader representatives Xu Shujian and Du Xiangtao, guest representatives of the ear team, and staff representative Li Weichang were awarded the honorary reader certificate of the 10th anniversary of Sinan Reading Club, and their fate with Sinan will also be continued.

In February 2017, Sinan Literary Anthology was founded. The purpose of the selection is to reflect the spiritual needs of the people of this era and the inner pulse of the times in the attention and research on original literary creation and translation. Subsequently, Sinan Reading Club and "Sinan Literary Anthology" jointly launched the "Sinan Book List".
At the event site, the "Sinan Booklist 2023" was announced at the same time (). According to Fang Yan, deputy editor-in-chief of "Sinan Literary Anthology", the "Sinan Book List" is composed of three parts: "Positive List", "Special Recommendation of Judges" and "General Catalog of Nominations". "Sinan Booklist" has 6 categories: "Novel of the Year", "Novel of the Year", "Poetry of the Year", "Non-fiction of the Year", "Humanities and Social Sciences of the Year (Monograph)" and "Humanities and Social Sciences of the Year (Anthology)", each category includes 3 original works and 2 translated works, and there are 36 works on the list this year because there are many works with the same number of votes. After voting for the "Sinan Booklist 2023 Positive List", the organizer invited the judges to recommend a number of works that were specially appreciated by individual cadres but ultimately failed to enter the main list to form the "Sinan Booklist 2023 Special Recommendation List". We hope that the richness of knowledge, vision, and interest in the knowledge, vision, and interest of this "missing pearl list" that recommends 22 works can form a mutual learning from the consensus of the main list. The "General Catalogue of Nominated Works" has a total of 163 works, which is an innovation in this year's list. Fang Yan introduced that as a summary of the judges' knowledge, interest and vision, they hope that this general catalogue of nominated works can provide readers with a richer and more diverse reading reference.
From the "Sinan Literary Anthology", to the pop-up store of Sinan Bookstore, the physical store of Sinan Bookstore, the poetry store of Sinan Bookstore, and the derived "Short Story Biennial Award" and "Sinan Booklist", and the book club dialogue collection "Reading the World in Sinan", which has been published in the sixth volume, the continuous growth of the "Sinan brand" just confirms the city's vitality in the cultural field.

Under the guidance of the Propaganda Department of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, sponsored by the Municipal Press and Publication Bureau and the Information Office of the Municipal Government, undertaken by Shanghai Library, IP SHANGHAI and Shanghai Metro, and co-organized by Sinan Reading Club and Oriental Mission and Education Center, the "Scholarly Shanghai" subway reading promotion activity was also officially launched on the same day. The "Scholarly Shanghai" citizen reading micro-platform will be settled in the "Metro" APP for a long time, and citizens can click to read the authorized digital reading resources and audiobook resources of Shanghai Library, China Literature, Himalayas, Seven Cats and other platforms, as well as the electronic newspapers of Jiefang Daily, Wen Wei Po, Xinmin Evening News and in recent years. Metro Line 10 will also open the "Scholarly Shanghai Special Train", and launch a scholarly cultural corridor at Xintiandi and Shanghai Library subway stations, where well-known writers and scholars will recommend book lists suitable for subway reading, so that the fragrance of books will accompany the citizens and become a flowing landscape in Shanghai.
