Lin Jian said that China's permanent representative to the United Nations has comprehensively expounded China's position in his explanatory statement after the vote. Independent statehood has been the long-cherished aspiration of the Palestinian people for generations, and formal membership in the United Nations is a crucial step in this historic process. Back in 2011, the Palestinians filed an application, when the Security Council's action was shelved due to the opposition of the United States. Today, 13 years later, Palestine's application for full membership in the United Nations has been rejected due to the US veto, and the Palestinian people's decades-old dream has been ruthlessly shattered. History and the people of the world will remember this perverse act of the United States.
The current round of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is still dragging on, causing a serious humanitarian crisis. Although the United States has vetoed the application of Palestine for full membership in the United Nations, the urgent demands of the people of the region for an immediate ceasefire, the basic needs of the civilian population in Gaza for humanitarian assistance, and the universal desire of the international community for a just and lasting solution to the question of Palestine cannot be denied. Lin Jian said that the so-called "theory of China's overcapacity" is not a "new concept". In the past, the United States called China's export of a large number of high-quality and low-cost products to the world "overcapacity," and now it has labeled China's exports of new energy products to the world as "overcapacity." According to this logic, 80 percent of US chips, especially high-end chips, are exported, and pork and agricultural products are also exported in large quantities. The so-called "theory of China's overcapacity" thrown out by the US seems to be an economic concept, but behind it is the evil intention of containing and suppressing China's industrial development, aiming to seek a more favorable competitive position and market advantage for the country, and it is naked economic coercion and bullying.
In today's era, supply and demand are global, and the production capacity of different countries is determined by their comparative advantages. The advantages of China's new energy industry are obtained by real skills, and are shaped through continuous scientific and technological innovation and full market competition. The announcement of the launch of a new Section 301 investigation by the United States is a mistake on top of a mistake

Lin Jian said that the relevant remarks of the US side are completely inconsistent with the facts, damage Sino-US economic and trade relations, and run counter to the consensus reached at the San Francisco summit between the two heads of state. China is gravely concerned and strongly deplores this.
First, China's steel industry is mainly based on meeting the domestic market demand, without any subsidy policies to stimulate exports, and the proportion of exports has remained at about 5% for a long time, far lower than Japan, South Korea and other steel producing countries, and the impact on the international market is very limited. On the contrary, the United States has provided hundreds of billions of dollars in discriminatory subsidies to its own industries, and has also abused export control measures under the pretext of "national security" to hinder the normal international trade of chips and other products. The US side accused China of adopting so-called "non-market behavior", which is a typical example of "thieves shouting to catch thieves".
Second, a number of US research reports show that the US shipbuilding industry has lost its competitive advantage many years ago due to overprotection. The development of China's related industries is the result of technological innovation and active participation in market competition, thanks to its complete industrial manufacturing system and huge domestic market. The US blames China for its own problems, which lacks factual basis and goes against economic common sense.
Third, the previous US administration selectively imposed tariffs on steel and aluminum products of some WTO members on the grounds of "national security" and conducted Section 301 investigations and imposed tariffs on China, all of which were outright protectionist acts, and have already been ruled by the WTO to be in violation of WTO rules.
Lin Jian said that China will pay close attention to the progress of the investigation, and asked the US side to be cautious in words and deeds, stop manipulating China issues in the election year, stop "pan-securitization" of economic and trade issues, cancel the additional tariffs on China, stop imposing new tariffs, and China will take all necessary measures to resolutely defend its rights and interests.
