In the early morning of February 19, 2022, a girl accidentally fell into the water by the Lotus Lake, Xu Shubin heard the cry for help in the fishing tackle shop, and immediately rushed to the rescue, the temperature was close to zero degrees Celsius, the lake water was cold, Xu Shubin quickly froze and was physically exhausted, but he gritted his teeth and insisted on pushing the girl to the shore. After going ashore, Xu Shubin's nosebleeds flowed, his body had been frozen unconscious, that night, he had a high fever that did not go away, and after a week of infusion treatment, he gradually recovered his health.
On the morning of November 26, 2023, resident Granny Li accidentally fell into the lake while watching fish on the pontoon, and Xu Shubin, who was busy in the fishing tackle shop, heard the cry for help, and hurriedly ran to the lake, took off his coat and jumped straight into the lake, quickly rescued Granny Li from the lake, and immediately gave her mother-in-law first aid. When his mother-in-law woke up, Xu Shubin felt a pain in his arm due to a rescue strain, and at the same time he found that he had lost his mobile phone again, which was the fourth mobile phone he had lost due to saving people.

If the good water nature and lakeside living have created favorable conditions for Xu Shubin to save people, then a good family style and the support of his family are the source of motivation for his righteousness and bravery.
Xu Shubin's father was a soldier to resist US aggression and aid Korea, and he was influenced by the thinking of soldiers since he was a child. "My father always taught me to be righteous and do more good deeds. Xu Shubin said that under the influence of his father, he developed the habit of helping others since he was a child. Diving to save people often has a variety of complex and changeable situations, such as being pulled into the water by a person who has fallen into the water, being scratched by an unknown object in the lake, etc. "Several times I saved people in the cold winter, and my body suffered from the cold, leaving sequelae. There were also severe strains on the back and arms on several occasions. Xu Shubin's wife said that every time her husband went into the water to save people, her heart tightened, but this is doing good deeds and doing good deeds, which is worthy of support.
The people who were rescued by Xu Shubin were all grateful for his kindness, some people brought large bags of gifts, and some people sent thick red envelopes, but he refused them one by one. Over the past 15 years, Xu Shubin has had to walk around the lake from time to time in order to detect danger in time and provide help. When he found that the railing of the plank road by the lake was damaged, and the lifebuoy was not placed according to the regulations, he would repair it as soon as possible or report it to the relevant departments. He also insisted on patrolling the lake at about 12 o'clock every night, day after day, rain or shine.
"Patrolling the lake has long been a part of my daily life. Xu Shubin said that if you don't walk around the shore of Lotus Lake about 3 kilometers long every day, you can't sleep. Under his inspiration, several enthusiastic citizens also joined the team of "voluntary lake patrol", and whenever they had time, they would patrol the lake with him and become the "guardian" of Lotus Lake. For more than ten years, Xu Shubin has insisted on patrolling the lake at about 12 o'clock in the middle of the night every day, day after day, rain or shine, rescued more than 20 people who fell into the water, and successfully persuaded nearly 30 people who wanted to commit suicide, known as the "Guardian of Lotus Lake", and has been awarded the title of "Sichuan Province's outstanding righteousness and courage as an individual" and "Sichuan Good Man".
