On April 19, Beijing time, University of Kentucky rookie guard Reed Sheppard announced on social media that he would participate in the 2024 NBA Draft and give up his remaining college qualifications.

Shepard is currently the seventh pick in ESPN's predictions, averaging 12.5 points, 4.5 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game in his freshman season, shooting 52.1% from three-point range, winning the SEC League's Rookie of the Year award, being named to the SEC league's second team, and winning the Weyman Tisdale Award, which represents Rookie of the Year, and has not had a college first-round pick shoot more than 50 percent from three-point range since Glen Rice at the University of Michigan in 1988-89.
