Improper family style can easily induce leading cadres to violate discipline and law, or even commit crimes

In May 2023, Tian Moumou was sentenced to 10 years and 9 months in prison for accepting bribes.
Under the influence of the deformed view of power, the relatives of some leading cadres have formed a circle of corrupt interests around the leading cadres, and their family affection has evolved into a bargaining chip for abusing power and amassing money for bribes, and they have influenced each other and constantly produced evil results of corruption.
"My brother, son, and nephew have contracted some engineering projects under my banner. There are also relatives who started a renovation company, and my son is also involved in it, contracting business in violation of regulations. My nephew partnered with others to do a project for improper benefits, and I also accepted bribes from it. I went from acquiescing to my relatives doing business and contracting projects in violation of regulations, to gradually getting out of control and out of control, and then to them going their own way behind my back, using my power and influence to seek benefits, so that I went further and further. Le Qiwen, former party secretary and director of the Agriculture and Rural Bureau of Fuzhou City, Jiangxi Province, said in his confession. In January 2024, Le Qiwen was sentenced to four years and six months in prison by the Linchuan District People's Court of Fuzhou City.
In the face of the unreasonable demands of his relatives to participate in the project in violation of regulations, he did not resolutely stop it, but connived and acquiesced until he colluded and finally turned the family into a "corrupt community".
"On the issue of profit-making for relatives and friends, some leading cadres may not want their family members to use their influence to participate in business and enterprise enterprises in the first place. Liu Jie said, "But relatives go everywhere to solicit engineering projects under his brand, as long as the leading cadres acquiesce and do not stop it in time, the relatives will become more and more emboldened." With the passage of time, the whole family has become corrupt, and the corrupt leading cadres and relatives who seek personal gain, you push me, I push you, and the problem of violating discipline and law is rolling like a snowball, and it may not be clear who is the cause and who is the effect, so they follow this inertia to the edge of the cliff. ”
To continuously eradicate the soil and conditions for the breeding of corruption, we must attach importance to the building of family education and family style
The newly revised Regulations on Disciplinary Actions of the Communist Party of China (hereinafter referred to as the "Regulations") have a number of punishment provisions for Party members and leading cadres who do not attach importance to the construction of family style. For example, the first paragraph of Article 106 stipulates the punishment for "taking advantage of the original authority or influence of the position after leaving or retiring (leaving) to seek benefits for the business activities of spouses, children, their spouses and other relatives and other persons with specific relationships"; Article 107 stipulates that the spouses, children and their spouses of leading Party cadres shall be punished in the relevant circumstances of "other violations of the regulations on the prohibition of doing business and running enterprises"; Article 152 stipulates that leading Party cadres do not attach importance to the building of family style, and punish their spouses, Where children and their spouses fail to manage and educate themselves, causing a negative impact or serious consequences, they are to be given warnings or serious warnings, and where the circumstances are serious, they are to be removed from internal Party positions.
The improper family style is related to the feudal remnants of the idea of "sealing the wife and the son" and the idea of privilege. Some party members and cadres regard power as a tool to seek benefits for their relatives and friends, enrich their own pockets, erode the body of the party, and damage the party's image. The newly revised "Regulations" list "opposing privileged ideas and privileged phenomena" as the first article of integrity and discipline, and guide and standardize party members and leading cadres to keep in mind their original aspirations and missions, consciously break down privileged thoughts and behaviors, and achieve impartial use of power and clean government.
The Xiangtan Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision has taken the rectification of leading cadres using their power or influence to make profits for their relatives and friends as the top priority of the anti-corruption campaign, formulated and introduced 10 measures to prevent leading cadres from using their power or influence to make profits for their relatives and friends, and strictly required leading cadres to implement a system of recording and reporting on matters received from requests, a system of recording and reporting when leading cadres are found to have interfered in major matters in violation of regulations, and a system of recording and reporting on the behavior of "playing cards", so as to strengthen supervision over public power. The Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision of Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province, has continued to rectify and standardize the behavior of leading cadres' families in doing business and running enterprises through on-site investigations, special inspections, and heart-to-heart talks. At the same time, the joint human resources and social security and taxation departments have used the big data platform to thoroughly investigate and sort out information on the spouses and children of leading cadres engaging in profit-making activities in violation of regulations, and seriously investigate and deal with clues to problems;
While strengthening the education, management, and supervision of leading cadres, some localities have also included the families of leading cadres. Zixi County, Fuzhou City, Jiangxi Province, regularly holds training courses to warn the families of leading cadres on cases of violations of discipline and law committed crimes abusing public office, excavate the underlying causes of the cases, and effectively strengthen family integrity education.
