author:Cui Yi'an 💟

On March 9, 1946, it was an ordinary day, and the streets of Harbin were bustling with pedestrians coming and going. However, on this very day, a terrible conspiracy is quietly underway. Li Zhaolin, a famous communist and anti-Japanese hero in Northeast China, was brutally murdered at the age of 48 in a seemingly ordinary home. The murderer turned out to be his subordinate Sun Geling, a young woman who was once regarded by him as his own. What kind of conspiracy is this? Who is behind it? Why did you kill Li Zhaolin? All the doubts will be revealed one by one in the following story...

The betrayal of the hero

Li Zhaolin, a well-known name in the hearts of the people of Northeast China, represents a hero who can sing and cry. Born in 1898 into a poor peasant family, he suffered from poverty since childhood, but he longed for a better life. In 1924, he joined the Communist Party of China, and since then his blood has only burned for the revolutionary cause.

In that treacherous era, the Northeast was reduced to a division of the great powers. The Japanese invaders were extremely vicious, wantonly slaughtering and burning this land. With a pure heart to serve the country and save the people, Li Zhaolin resolutely threw himself into the arduous anti-Japanese armed struggle. The Northeast People's Revolutionary Army under his leadership sometimes lurked in the forests and sometimes haunted villages, carrying out frequent attacks and guerrilla warfare against the enemy.

On a cold night in 1933, Li Zhaolin led hundreds of men and horses to raid the Japanese stronghold of Ning'an and won a complete victory. This is just a microcosm of his countless exploits. In those difficult years, he and his soldiers slept in the open and traveled through thorns, but they unswervingly persevered in the struggle. Li Zhaolin's heroic image of taking the lead and being fearless in the face of danger has long been deeply imprinted in the hearts of the people of Northeast China.

After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War in 1945, Li Zhaolin returned to Harbin and was appointed secretary of the Harbin Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China. He thought that he could do something practical for the people in peacetime, but unexpectedly encountered an even more cruel conspiracy.

In March 1946, a young woman named Sun Geling appeared at Li Zhaolin's side. She used to be an underground worker under Li Zhaolin, and the two have known each other for many years, and Sun Geling has great respect for Li Zhaolin. However, under the temptation of Kuomintang agents, she betrayed the revolutionary cause and became a minion of the class enemy.

On March 7, Kuomintang agents secretly met at the Barras Hotel to discuss a plan to murder Li Zhaolin. As a result of the failure of the first operation, they redeployed the plan on the 8th.

Early in the morning of the 9th, the spies split up, some went to Sun Geling's home at No. 9 Shuidao Street, while others kept a close watch on the street. After everything was ready, Sun Geling tricked Li Zhaolin into going to her home on the grounds that his mother was critically ill.

When Li Zhaolin stepped into the door with good intentions, he did not know that the criminal conspiracy had secretly unfolded. Sun Geling personally put the poison into the tea, and Li Zhaolin drank it in one gulp, and died of poisoning instantly. Just when he was dying, several spies hiding in the house suddenly rushed out with knives, smiling at Li Zhaolin's body and stabbing him seven times!

What a tragic and inhumane conspiracy this was! A national hero was betrayed by his cronies in this way and suffered such a miserable end. That night, the spies prepared to transport the corpse to the Songhua River to burn the body, but it was seized by the Soviet army in time.

Li Zhaolin's unfortunate death was like a thunderclap that shocked the people of the whole country. A generation of heroes sacrificed for the party and the people in this way, and the murderer turned out to be one of his closest subordinates. Is there a bigger conspiracy behind this? People are shocked but also extremely indignant at this unjust case.

A brutal conspiracy

On March 7, 1946, in the Barras Hotel in Harbin, a group of Kuomintang agents were plotting a heinous conspiracy. They agreed to lure the Communist hero Li Zhaolin to a home two days later, on March 9, where they brutally murdered him.

In order to carry out this murder, the agents carefully arranged all the details. They chose a private house at No. 9 Shuidao Street, and a young woman named Sun Geling came forward to trick Li Zhaolin into going there on the grounds that her mother was critically ill. Sun Geling was an underground worker under Li Zhaolin, and the two have known each other for many years, and Li Zhaolin trusts her very much.

On 8 March, after the failure of the first operation, the operatives redeployed the plan. Early in the morning of the 9th, they split up, some went to Sun Geling's house at No. 9 Shuidao Street, and some kept a close watch on the street. After everything was ready, Sun Geling tricked Li Zhaolin into going to her house on the grounds that his mother was seriously ill.

One of these spies is named Liu Xixian, who was formerly a field inspector at the Songjiang Police Station of the Police Department. Before committing the murder, he had worn sunglasses to check around to make sure nothing was wrong. The other was Ma Jianyin, and he patrolled the streets with Liu Xixian and Liu Wensheng, responsible for arresting Li Zhaolin's guards.

Inside the house, there were three spies, Yan Zhongzhang, Gao Qingsan, and Meng Qingyun, each armed with a gun and a sharp dagger. Gao Qingsan was originally a soldier of the 25th Infantry Regiment of the puppet army, and was absorbed by the Kuomintang after surrendering seven months ago. He was a bald man, dressed in a blue suit, with red eyes and a hideous appearance.

Just after Li Zhaolin was poisoned, the three men hiding in the kitchen rushed out with knives and stabbed Li Zhaolin's body seven times! A national hero was brutally murdered in this way, and his corpse was in a pool of blood.

What is even more outrageous is that after the murder, these spies actually prepared to transport Li Zhaolin's body to the Songhua River to burn it. Fortunately, the Soviets arrived in time to seize the remaining incriminating evidence at the scene, stopping their plan to wipe out the traces.

The murder was undoubtedly a brutal conspiracy. A hero who fought valiantly for the cause of national independence and liberation was betrayed by his cronies and was poisoned by this. Even more distressing is the fact that there is likely to be a larger conspiracy behind this. In addition to being shocked, people are more indignant at this unjust case.

A big case that shocked the whole country

As soon as the news of Li Zhaolin's brutal murder came out, it immediately aroused strong repercussions throughout the country. As a well-known communist and anti-Japanese hero in Northeast China, Li Zhaolin's unfortunate death was like a thunderclap that shocked the people of the whole country.

When the CPC Central Committee learned of this bad news, it immediately issued a solemn statement, demanding that the Kuomintang authorities thoroughly investigate the case and bring it to justice. The Northeast Bureau of the Communist Party of China also quickly reported to the Soviet army, and through the Soviet government, put pressure on the Kuomintang and demanded that the murderers be severely punished.

In the northeast region, this unjust case has aroused the anger and grief of the people. On March 10, people from all walks of life in Harbin spontaneously held a solidarity meeting and chanted the slogan of "avenge Zhaolin." In the venue, slogans were held high: "Punish the murderers, shame the country!" "Redress the grievances of the national heroes!" and "The Kuomintang spies deserve death!"

At the same time, the Harbin Municipal CPC Committee also made rapid arrangements and used various propaganda channels to create public opinion. The singing team commanded by Wang Yiding went into battle and sang the "Camping Song" composed by Li Zhaolin himself and some anti-Japanese salvation songs to praise his great achievements. A drama troupe was also set up to stage some plays reflecting Li Zhaolin's deeds.

Literary and artistic workers of the Sino-Soviet Friendship Association also joined the ranks of propaganda. They wrote articles in newspapers and magazines that played up the assassination plot of the Kuomintang agents and exposed their shameless tactics to start a civil war. Soon, the unjust case became the focus of national attention.

At the same time, the Soviet side also fully cooperated and put pressure on the Kuomintang authorities. The Soviet Army Command not only sent people to the scene to investigate, but also informed the Kuomintang police chief Yu Xiuhao to immediately send people to No. 9 Shuidao Street to search. However, in order to cover up the truth, Yu Xiuhao delayed until the afternoon of the next day before sending people, which almost led to a bigger conspiracy.

Fortunately, thanks to the close cooperation of the underground CCP members in the Kuomintang police station, the truth of the case was finally revealed to the world. When the Daowai Branch was examining the bandits, it discovered one of the murderers of Li Zhaolin and immediately reported it to the Soviet army. The murderer Meng Qingyun finally confessed all the inside information.

The Soviet army then escorted Meng Qingyun, Ma Jianyin and others to the Soviet Union, and another mastermind, Lin Zaichun, was also arrested in Changchun. Although the female spy Sun Geling fled to Beijing for a time, she could not escape the judgment of history in the end.

Although part of the truth of this major case that shocked China and the rest of the world has not yet been completely solved, it has completely uncovered the crime of the Kuomintang spies in murdering national heroes. Under the persistent struggle of the people of the whole country, the murderers will eventually be brought to justice and the conspiracy will be defeated.

Avenge the hero

After the news of Li Zhaolin's brutal murder spread, it immediately aroused the anger and grief of the masses in the northeast region.

They wrote articles in newspapers and magazines that played up the assassination plot of the Kuomintang agents and exposed their shameless tactics to start a civil war. Soon, the unjust case became the focus of national attention.

In order to pay tribute to the hero, the CCP and outside the party unanimously demanded that the murderer be severely punished and justice for Li Zhaolin. In Harbin, Li Zhaolin's funeral hall was set up in the Sino-Soviet Friendship Association. There are three big characters on the roof of the shed: "National Soul", and the big characters below are "Avenge General Zhaolin!"

One night in March, more than 100 party and military representatives, dressed in black coarse cloth clothes, silently walked into the Sino-Soviet Friendship Association to bid farewell to Li Zhaolin's body. This secret ceremony was presided over by Zhong Ziyun, and after everyone paid attention to the hero's body, Zhong Ziyun introduced Li Zhaolin's glorious deeds. The audience resounded with a cry that shook the roof of the shed.

Li Zhaolin's lover Jin Bowen took his two young children, Alec and Zoya, to dress her husband in filial piety clothes, shining with hatred for the murderer. Subsequently, Li Zhaolin's comrades-in-arms sang the "Camping Song" he personally composed for the fighters of the Anti-Japanese Union in 1938, and the passionate and enterprising singing voice floated low in the mourning hall.

Tieling rock, dense forests, and the sound of war horses on the waterside of the wasteland.

Surrounded by branding and unity, the sky is full of red. Comrades, even if Songjiang is late and the waves are born...

Singing these familiar lyrics and songs, it is as if I have seen Li Zhaolin leaping on a horse with a spear and galloping on the front line of resistance against Japan, and I have seen his lofty image of fighting bravely for the cause of national independence and liberation. The majestic "Internationale" also sounded in grief, expressing the resentment in everyone's hearts through this proletarian war song.

In the face of the unfortunate death of the hero, the CCP unanimously issued a call for "revenge for Zhaolin" inside and outside the party. Under the persistent struggle of the people of the whole country, the murderers will eventually be brought to justice and the conspiracy will be defeated. Li Zhaolin defended communist ideals and national dignity at the cost of his life, and his deeds will always be remembered by the people.

end

In order to seek justice, the CCP mobilized a mass movement to demand that the murderers be completely punished. The Soviet army also fully cooperated and sent the main culprits to the Soviet Union and severely punished them. Although one of the masterminds escaped the suspicion, most of the truth about the conspiracy was finally revealed.
