Alocasia
Alocasia, also known as "Guanyin for Dripping Water", is a large evergreen herb of the genus Alocasia in the family Araceae.
The sap in the stems and leaves of Alocasia is toxic and contains calcium oxalate, hydrocyanic acid and alkaloids.
Note that ingestion of Alocasia can cause numbness, swelling and central nervous system poisoning, while extracutaneous contact can cause itching, numbness and rash.
Mr. Su, who lives in Baiyun, Guangzhou
Recently, it was poisoned by this high-imitation "taro"
The damage is not light
Mr. Su said that he would go out for a walk every afternoon. Two days ago, he went to the field to simmer sweet potatoes, but when he counted them, he found that there was an extra "taro".
Mr. Su didn't think much about it and took the "taro" home. At dinner, he took it out as a staple dish, peeled the skin and took a bite, and immediately felt that something was wrong, "his tongue was rotten, and there were bubbles all around." ”
Mr. Su realized that there might be something wrong with this "taro", so he quickly spit it out, and then rinsed his mouth repeatedly. However, the symptoms were not alleviated, and there were symptoms such as difficulty swallowing, so I rushed to the hospital for treatment.
As judged by a doctor

误食“滴水观音”(海芋)根茎
Causes food poisoning
After vomiting and gastric lavage
Mr. Su's poisoning symptoms improved significantly
Alocasia poisoning is mostly caused by accidental ingestion, that is, oral poisoning, which mainly causes neurological and digestive symptoms.
Its incubation period is generally 10-30 minutes, and a small number of people develop symptoms immediately after oral poisoning.
Typical symptoms are: perioral and sore throat, numbness, can be accompanied by tongue paresthesia, salivation, dysphonia, chest pain and chest tightness, etc., and in severe cases, acute laryngeal edema, asphyxia, respiratory failure, heart failure, and even death.
A small number of people are poisoned by the skin and eyes, and itching occurs when the skin comes into contact with the juice, and the eye may cause blindness in contact with the juice.
Poisonous Alocasia
In the greening of the community and parks
Very common
Quite a few people will also put it in their homes
Make ornamental plants
The rhizome resembles a taro
The two are often confused
How to identify Alocasia?
Alocasia is a large foliage plant, evergreen in all seasons, with thick, brown-brown stems and white sap after breaking;
The leaves are clustered at the top of the stem, which is shield-shaped and broad, arrow-shaped, and the leaf surface is smooth like wax;
The flower bud is green, the lower part is the female flower, and the upper part is the male flower, which is commonly known as the "Buddha flame bud";
After pollination, the male flowers wither, and the female flowers give birth to fruits, which are bright red when ripe.

Alocasia is also known as "Guangdong wolf venom"
It has the effect of treating toxic swelling
But it is poisonous in its entirety and must be used with caution
The shape of Alocasia is similar to that of taro, and after slicing and drying, it is easy to be confused with yams, so everyone should pay attention to distinguish.

If you accidentally "get hit"
Remember the three ways to save your life
The first trick is to rinse with water in time
If the skin accidentally touches the juice of Alocasia, wash it with running water as soon as possible, and be careful not to let the juice touch other parts of the body, so as not to cause adverse reactions such as allergies.
The second trick is to scrub with vinegar or ginger juice
Alocasia juice mainly contains many chemicals, and it can be used to scrub the red, itchy and sore areas with sour vinegar or ginger juice, which has the effect of reducing swelling and disinfecting.
The third trick is to seek medical attention in time
If you eat Alocasia by mistake, you will have symptoms such as heartburn, swollen tongue and throat, you can first drink some rice vinegar and ginger juice to eliminate toxins in the body and reduce the pain, and at the same time drink plenty of water and seek medical attention as soon as possible.
To be on the safe side
Do not pick "taro" in the wild to eat
When used as a drug
Use under the guidance of a physician
Seeing that your hands are not moving, don't touch, don't pick, don't eat!
Forward to remind the people around you!
