A glimpse of Jianshui's well-known building pipes
Passing through the city gate of Chaoyanglou, entering the ancient city of Jianshui, a straight street appears in front of you, this is Lin'an Road, starting from the east city gate, the west city gate as the end point, with a total length of 1500 meters, known as the "first street in southern Yunnan", it is the central axis of the ancient city of Jianshui, and there are many criss-crossing streets and alleys scattered on both sides.
With a long history and splendid culture, there are many buildings full of strong cultural accumulation left inside and outside Jianshui City, such as Tuanshan Residence, Zhangjia Garden, Confucian Temple, Xuezheng Examination Shed, Liangyuan Key Workshop, Lin'an Mansion and so on. Among them, Zhujia Garden is one of the most famous attractions in Jianshui Ancient City. This ancient building is located at No. 16 Hanlin Street, a fork street on the right side of Lin'an Road, and was built in the last years of the Qing Dynasty. The building covers an area of more than 20,000 square meters, of which the houses cover an area of more than 5,000 square meters.
At that time, the rich gentry Zhu Chengzhang, Zhu Chengzao and nephews Zhu Chaochen, Zhu Chaoying, etc., opened a mine in an old tin mine firm "Zhu Hengtai", the mineral source was prosperous, and accumulated a lot of money in more than 20 years, so they purchased land in the hometown to build a house and build a ancestral hall, after two generations of father, brother and nephew, three investments lasted more than 30 years, and built a group of larger-scale, more artificial landscapes, better building quality and local characteristics of residential buildings, so it is called "Zhujia Garden". It is also known as the "Grand View Garden of Southern Yunnan".
The gate of Zhujia Garden is west to the street, its main building is an asymmetrical layout of "three vertical and horizontal four", the main axis is arranged in turn with the pond, the front garden, one entry, two entrance, three courtyards and the back garden, it is a typical group building of "five rooms, six ears and five halls, a large patio with four small patios" residential courtyards side by side, there are 42 large and small patios, and it is a labyrinthine building complex. The first visit, coupled with the ordinary tourists who come and go in a hurry and are indeed sightseeing, may be dizzy when they enter the "labyrinth", and it is difficult to distinguish where they are going.
According to the relevant information, it is also easy to perceive: Zhujia Garden is a three-drop water gatehouse, with a middle road, the gatehouse is finely carved, and the eaves are hung with a straight plaque of "Senior Minister", and the door plaque is written "Lieutenant General". On the left side of the gate is the ten two-storey "stilted buildings" of the two courtyards, which are used as the "horse racing corner building" of the shop and the warehouse, followed by the inner courtyard, and the three-bay large flower hall in front of the northwest side of the inner courtyard, and its roof form is a combination of roll shed and hard gabled roof. On the left and right sides of it is the lady embroidery floor, the forehead of the "embroidery floor" moon cave door is inlaid with stone carvings "prudent words and deeds", and the back of it is inlaid with stone carvings "follow the rules" four words. The ancestral hall communicates with the embroidery floor, and the forehead of the moon cave door is inlaid with four words of "Zhu's ancestral hall". It is followed by a family temple, and there is "Zhuzi's family motto" written on the wall. In front of the flower hall is the front garden and pond, both of which occupy a large area. On the door of the flower hall, there is a horizontal plaque of "Brother Lianke", there are three courtyards behind the flower hall, which is the residence of the Zhu family, and there is a small door to the street pavement. Inside, there is a family ancestral hall with a roll shed roof, a pond, and a living room. The pond has a water stage, pavilion, next to the pond is the shade of flowers and trees and stone fences, and the stone fence lookout board is engraved with relief patterns and poems and calligraphy. In the northwest corner of the garden, there is a separate courtyard, which is used for the workshop and the lower living room.
It is also said that the overall architectural structure of Zhujia Garden is rigorous, and it is a large-scale traditional dwelling with a large scale, unique architectural style, and rich in the charm of private gardens in southern Yunnan in Jianshui and even Honghe Prefecture, which is of great value for the study of southern Yunnan dwellings at that time. In the early years of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1875), the Zhujia Garden was built, and in the second year of Xuantong in the Qing Dynasty (1910), the Zhujia Garden was completed. In June 1985, Zhujia Garden was announced by the People's Government of Jianshui County as the second batch of county-level cultural relics protection units; in December 1987, Zhujia Garden was announced by the People's Government of Yunnan Province as the third batch of provincial-level key cultural relics protection units; in 1998, the Jianshui County Government repaired the Jianshui Zhujia Garden (in the attic above the third living room behind the flower hall, the "Yunnan Daily" in the Guangxu period, two documents of the government praising and awarding the title of "Mrs. Tai", the account books of the Zhu family over the years, the private letters of the Zhu family and "Zhu Hengtai" were found On March 5, 2013, Zhujia Garden was announced by the State Council of the People's Republic of China as the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
Because we are busy with other planned attractions, we have a short time to visit Zhujia Garden, but it is still worth it as a glimpse of the leopard in the well-known building tube of Jianshui.
