Bad at math

In the United States, only 37% of people are naturally fond of mathematics, while 92% of people are naturally fond of art. Many majors that seem difficult to find a job now prefer more people. Don't we adults all grieve ourselves? If you look at adults, how many of them take math, physics, and chemistry as hobbies? Aren't they all taking liberal arts as hobbies. When you choose elective courses in college, you can see which courses are more popular with people? Do you look at the hundreds of lecture halls and live broadcasts, how many science aspects are there? My conclusion is that there is only one reason in favor of studying science and engineering: it can make money. For 90% of people, earning money is the first need. When I interview employees, I usually ask, "What is your dream job?" and most employees answer with a stable income and no overtime. Or you can't work too much overtime, and you have to have overtime pay. No matter what your ideal job is, when you reach an annual salary of 500,000 yuan, you can turn a garbage job into an ideal job. There was an article on Zhihu before, which talked about the sacrifice of humanity for a job with an annual salary of 500,000 yuan.

A common reason to study science and engineering is that it is easy to find a job. I believe that it is easier for two students from the same school, one with a science and engineering-related diploma and the other with a liberal arts-related diploma, and science and engineering is indeed easier to find a job than liberal arts. Even if employers don't need science positions, employers like to recruit people with science and engineering, such as operations, marketing, new media, and so on. The reason is simple, there is a strong sense of understanding.

We can divide the work into the following categories:

1. Must have a background in science and engineering. For example, electrical engineering, civil engineering, mathematics is not counted here. Because now the math of the liberal arts and sciences is the same;

2 Jobs that can be done in both liberal arts and sciences. Including financial background, legal background, etc.;

3 Only liberal arts students, or those who need a liberal arts background and professional knowledge in liberal arts

You will find that there are almost no jobs in the third category, if there is, Chinese language and literature, which can also be seen from the university admissions plan and the requirements for public majors.

What are the differences between science students and liberal arts students? In my opinion, there are four differences between these two types of college students, especially when looking for a job, which is very realistic and obvious.

1. Science students are more professional

First of all, from a professional point of view, science students are usually more professional than liberal arts students. For example, a college student majoring in Chinese, the content of 4 years of college study seems to be all-inclusive, but to be more professional, many people often feel that they have learned nothing. In contrast, as a science student, the degree of specialization is higher, and the degree of specialization is more quantifiable. The reason why liberal arts universities are always ranked worse than science universities in various university rankings is because many liberal arts universities are difficult to quantify in their professional indicators.

2. Science students are more pragmatic

Another difference between science students and liberal arts students is that science students are more pragmatic, while liberal arts students are more "pragmatic" in comparison. For example, it is often difficult for college students majoring in secretarial to directly apply the professional knowledge they learned during school. In contrast, some science students, such as computer science majors and communication engineering majors, often learn knowledge that can be "landed" and applied after leaving school.

3. Science students have more opportunities to choose

In the job market, science students are also more popular than liberal arts students, and the employment green card majors in recent years are basically science majors, such as network engineering, digital media technology, and so on. In contrast, some liberal arts majors have been red-card majors for employment for many years, such as history majors and painting majors. Therefore, in the face of the test of the job market, science students have more employment opportunities, and liberal arts students often face more pressure.

4. Science students are better treated

Finally, if we compare the work pay, in general, science students are usually treated better than liberal arts students. For liberal arts students, the better treatment is to take the civil service or teacher exam, and the average monthly salary is several thousand yuan. However, a professional and skilled science student, many people can achieve a monthly salary of tens of thousands after graduation. For example, at this stage, doctoral graduates majoring in artificial intelligence have been offered by companies with an annual salary of 800,000 yuan. In contrast, liberal arts students are rarely able to earn such a high salary.

In fact, there is no absolute good or bad between disciplines, and each discipline has its own advantages and characteristics.

The most important thing is what exactly you want.
