Reminiscences of the retired Tibetan military officer Lankata

Lucid waters and lush mountains (Miao)

At 8:09 a.m. on April 10, 2024, I suddenly received a WeChat message from my military school classmate Zhao Guiping: I heard that Lanka passed away yesterday. I chuckled in my heart and immediately replied: Really? Zhao Guiping said: That's right.

At 15:01 in the afternoon of the same day, Lanka's son Lan Yong posted an obituary on Lanka's WeChat circle of friends: "Uncles and aunts, I am Lanka's son Lan Yong. Due to my father's sudden illness and his death on the morning of April 9, the memorial service is scheduled to be held at 12 o'clock on April 15 in Luoba Street Village, Luhua Town, Heishui County, to thank you for your care and support for our family."

After a while, I saw several classmates such as Lu Jian, Jingxin, Gao Yuanyun, Ding Jie, Zhao Guiping, Qin Zhifeng, etc., leaving messages: Deeply mourn Lanka and his classmates!

I was deeply saddened by the sudden bad news. Sad and sad, painful and painful!

It was 25 years since I parted with Lanka, and now that he passed away suddenly, I couldn't help but open the floodgates of memory, and his simple smile appeared in front of my eyes again.

Lanka: He was a classmate of the 12th Squadron of the 2nd Brigade of the Kunming Army Academy. He has excellent military skills, loves the troops, is upright, treats people sincerely, has a solid work style, unites comrades, and is helpful.

When he was in the 12th Squadron, Lanka was the district captain who was very appreciated by Captain Liu Dongping and Instructor Yin Baosheng. It is not so much the backbone of the students, but our leading big brother. He is not only a good cadet of the military academy, but also a good brother of his classmates.

Lanka is a top trainer, especially in bomb throwing and shooting. In the training, as long as any student brother is in trouble, Lanka will "open a small stove" for him, and will always patiently and meticulously explain and demonstrate, and teach him hand in hand.

When Lu Jian, Wen Wu, Li Jinbin and I ran the "Fertile Soil" newspaper in the squadron, Lanka was our loyal reader. From the military academy to the army, he always called me secretary, which was very special and kind.

After graduating from the military academy, we were assigned to the 52nd Mountain Infantry Brigade of the Tibet Military Region. I was a platoon commander in the brigade reconnaissance company, and he was a platoon commander in the 4th Infantry Battalion.

A soldier bears a nest of bears. With his excellent psychological quality and military skills, Lanka has become an excellent grassroots leader of the 52nd Mountain Infantry Brigade. On the training ground, there was the sound of killing, crawling and rolling to practice knives and guns, losing skin and flesh without falling behind, and shedding blood and sweat without tears. On the banks of the Niyang River, Lanka was left sweating like rain. No matter what position he is in, Lanka is dedicated, hard-working, and he has been commended by his superiors many times for himself and his unit.

The military is like a song. Lankata first served in the former 31st Infantry Division for nearly four years, and after graduating from the military academy, he served in the Tibet Military Region. From July 1996 to March 2015, he successively served in the 4th Infantry Battalion, Teaching Team, and Political Office of the Artillery Regiment of the 52nd Mountain Infantry Brigade of the Tibet Military Region, and the Chayu Frontier Station of the Qamdo Military Sub-district of Tibet.

Life is impermanent. Lanka he walked his short life at the age of 51. He came from the Aba Tibetan area, and he walked to the snowy Tibet. He is the Eagle of the Snow Land, and he is the son of the Snow Mountain!

The paper is short and long, and the pen is clumsy. Due to work reasons, Canada was far away and could not attend Lankata's memorial service. So I wrote these words, as a remembrance and condolences, I wish our military academy classmate Tibetan retired officer Lanka he all the way, and I also wish all the snowy veterans to take care of their health, Tashi Delek.
