In those difficult years, they made their own choices according to historical encounters and personal wishes, and married Wang Ping, Wang Zonghuai, and Yi Yaocai respectively. Unexpectedly, after the first award of titles in our army, their husbands were awarded the ranks of general, lieutenant general and major general.

After the outbreak of the Lugou Bridge Incident in 1937, the 115th Division of the Eighth Route Army entered the Fuping area of Hebei Province and established the Jinchaji Anti-Japanese Base Area. Fan Jingxin, the eldest sister who had just graduated from Fuping Simple Normal School, participated in the revolutionary work and immediately became the women's director of the first district of the Fuping County Mobilization Committee. She is so busy with her work that she sometimes can't even take care of eating and combing her hair.

A few days later, the eldest sister really told her to go to work. In this way, the second sister Fan Jingming also became a member of the First District Women's Rescue Association in October 1937.

In the spring of 1938, Huo Jialin, president of the Third Division Stormtroop Drama Club, rode a horse and personally came to Fuping to recruit actors, Fan Jingming and her 14-year-old brother Fan Jingbo signed up for the exam at the same time, as a result, Fan Jingming was admitted, and Jingbo's younger brother was admitted the next year, and since then the sisters and brothers have become literary and artistic soldiers of the Eighth Route Army.
The Fan family is a well-known anti-Japanese family in the village. In addition to the eldest sister Fan Jingxin and the second sister Fan Jingming, their father Fan Chenger is also the first director of the village movement committee, the second uncle Fan Maoru is the head of the grassroots transportation station that transmits information, and the fifth uncle Fan Yinggao is an underground member of the Communist Party of China.
During the Anti-Japanese War, in addition to organizing the production of the village to save themselves, my father and second uncle also sent more than 40 young people to the army in person, adding new blood to the Eighth Route Army, which was a great contribution in the war-torn era.
Although her mother was a woman with small feet, she was also an active member of the Anti-Japanese War. She buys military shoes and makes condolence bags every day, and also goes to each house to assign tasks and check the quality.
Thanks to the efforts of the whole village, Fanjiagong Village has become a model village for supporting the Anti-Japanese War. Before Wang Ping, the county magistrate fell in love with Fan Jingxin, he and other leaders of the county mobilization committee came to the village many times to hold on-site meetings to praise the advanced, boost morale, and make this ordinary mountain village vibrant.

Every recuperation company needs medical personnel, so before Jingyang's sister Bai School graduated, she was transferred to the first recuperation company under the outpatient department of the Jinchaji Fifth Army Divisional Headquarters as an intern medicine.
On this day, Dr. Zhang in the company suddenly found Fan Jingyang and said that he wanted to go on a blind date with Chief of Staff Yi Yaocai and asked her to accompany him. Who knew that after going, the chief of staff didn't look at Dr. Zhang, who was on a blind date, but was very interested in Fan Jingyang.

After the anti-"sweep" in the autumn of 1941, the second sister Fan Jingming was ordered to leave Wanxian County and return to Baixiao to study medicine. At this time, Baixiao moved from Gegong Village in Tang County to Datai Village in Fuping County, which was only 6 miles away from Daoyuan Village, where Wang Ping and Fan Jingxin lived.
One Saturday afternoon, during the holiday of the white school, Fan Jingming flew to the door of his sister's house 6 miles away like a happy little white pigeon. Several steps, she jumped three times and two times, and jumped into the threshold with a "hi". Suddenly raised his head and saw a young cadre sitting on the ground talking to Wang Ping, and the man saw Fan Jingming jump into the room, and his face turned red.

After Wang Zonghuai left, Wang Ping and his wife told her a story of a "living dictionary". The Japanese army suffered a great defeat in the Battle of the Hundred Regiments, but they did not give up and tried in vain to retaliate, and immediately mobilized 70,000 Japanese troops to adopt an "iron wall encirclement" and a "comb-grate clearance" against the Jin-Cha-Ji anti-Japanese base area, which was the reason for the anti-"sweeping" in the autumn of 1941.
After a big battle, the organs of the military region returned from Lijiagou in Lingshou County to Chenjiayuan Village in Pingshan County. The CPC Central Committee is very concerned about the casualties among cadres in Shanxi, Chahar, and Hebei.
A telegram was sent by the Organization Department of the Field Political Department of the Eighth Route Army in the southeast of Shanxi, asking the Organization Department of the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Military Region to submit a roster of cadres at and above the battalion level. There are not many items, just write the name, department, and job title.
At that time, the Organization Department had five sections: the Organization Section, the Youth Section, the Statistics Section, and the Inspection Section, all of which had section chiefs, but the head of the cadre section was concurrently served by Minister Wang Zonghuai.
The two cadre officers had not been familiar with the situation shortly after they arrived at their posts. What is even more difficult is that there is no information at hand to check, let alone cadre files, not even a roster.
This situation was caused by the special environment of the War of Resistance behind enemy lines. In the autumn of 1939, during the first anti-"sweep" campaign in Jincha, the Organization Department, in accordance with the instructions of the head of the military region, burned the documents, archives, and materials that were inconvenient to carry and could not be transferred, and only made a cadre resume and buried it in Daoyuan Village, Tang County. Unexpectedly, the Japanese puppet army dug 3 feet into the ground and dug it out, exposing some of the strength of the Jincha troops.
Commander Nie Rongzhen instructed: "In the future, all documents and forms should be disposed of before the anti-'sweep', and the forms should be filled out and sorted out after the anti-'sweep'. ”
In the subsequent counter-"sweeps," the headquarters of the Eighth Route Army, anxious to find out which cadres had been sacrificed, sent an urgent telegram demanding that the roster of cadres above the battalion level be immediately reported. If the table is sent out, it is obvious that you can't wait to fill it out and then collect it. Therefore, Wang Zonghuai held a telegram in his hand and said to himself: "This is a test!"

Subsequently, he took out a pen and made a list of cadres at and above the level of the military region's divisions, political, supply, and health organs, as well as directly subordinate units and battalions. Then, battalion commanders, instructors, regimental commissioners, general branch secretaries, department chiefs, section chiefs, assistants, and other cadres at and above the battalion level were listed in the order of establishment.
The two officers, one of whom made a tabulation of carbon paper, followed behind him. The division of labor and cooperation of the three people took only five hours to create and report a roster of cadres at and above the battalion level of the whole military region. Nearly 2,000 in total. Because of the dispersion, the Jirecha Advance Army led by Xiao Ke and the Jizhong Military Region led by Lu Zhengcao reported themselves according to the usual practice, so they were not included.

In this way, after going back and forth, the two finally fell in love. However, due to the fact that Fan Jingming was still studying medicine (the White School stipulated that marriage was not allowed during the school period), the two did not get married until June 26, 1944. The wedding venue is at the foot of Yan'an Pagoda Mountain, in a cave on the bank of the Yanshui River.
Yan'an's work is busy, the two of them originally had three days of newlywed leave, but they didn't take a day off, Fan Jingming and Wang Zonghuai went to their respective jobs.

During the war years, food in Yan'an was very poor, and food and clothing were particularly scarce. But the organizational care made Fan Jingming feel spring-like warmth.
In the summer of 1945, Fan Jingming became pregnant. The prickly vegetables are often eaten in the house, and they are all dug up by everyone on the mountain. Normal people are worried when they see it, let alone pregnant women?

Seeing that Fan Jingming was malnourished and was afraid of affecting the health of her offspring, a comrade specially bought a hen from far away for her to lay eggs. Some people may ask, everyone is so bitter, she raises chickens and lays eggs, and is not afraid of being conspicuous? This is thanks to Commander-in-Chief Zhu De's unique insight.
As a matter of fact, there is a precedent here: Comrade Wu Zili, who took part in the Pingjiang uprising, is very good at arranging his life, growing vegetables well, raising several chickens, and sometimes hanging a piece of bacon in the cave! Mr. Zhu smiled calmly and said: "He didn't steal, and he didn't greed, okay! If he does a good job, won't there be one less person in our Communist Party who will suffer?"
Mr. Zhu's words relieved the comrades' concerns, and Yan'an soon set off an upsurge of production to save itself.
Speaking of Yan'an, there is another very important thing that is not unhappy, that is, Chairman Mao once added new clothes to Fan Jingming.
