Li Zhongguo, a veteran with medals on his chest, wrote a bloody letter to join the Volunteer Army when he was 16 years old, went to the battlefield to resist US aggression and aid Korea, and became a soldier of the 416th Regiment of the 139th Division of the 47th Army. In 1995, Li Zhongguo, who was approaching the year of retirement, initiated the establishment of the Yan'an Spirit Research Association in Yiyang City and served as its president, insisting on going into organs, schools, communities, enterprises and other places to preach the spirit of Yan'an and the spirit of resisting US aggression and aiding Korea.

During the speech, Li Zhongguo was full of spirit and passion, combined with his own experience and historical background, and affectionately told the battle story of that year in simple language, bringing everyone back to the eventful years when sweat and tears were intertwined, blood and war were gathered, and reproduced the difficult and tragic historical scenes in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea and the deep affection of comrades-in-arms who can sing and cry. The touching deeds of the volunteers' indomitable, selfless dedication, and heroism shocked the teachers and students present, and made everyone moved and choked up with tears.
