In May 2021, Cao Xiafeng joined the Shanghai branch of the China Hematopoietic Stem Cell Donor Database. In April 2023, he received a call from the Municipal Red Cross Society and learned that he had been successfully matched with an 8-year-old pair of rare disease twins, and he immediately agreed to donate. However, during the routine physical examination before donation, Cao Xiafeng was "eliminated" because several liver function indicators were abnormal and did not meet the donation requirements.

On the morning of September 18, 2023, the medical staff successfully collected more than 300 ml of hematopoietic stem cell suspension from him and sent it to the hospital where the twin patients were located as soon as possible, and the vitality was also transfused into the body of the child with rare diseases with the blood.
